I have a 95 talon look at my mods list for engine mods. Here is my question My car on a normal morning you start it and drive to work and I get no converter lockup meaning my car revs around 3000 RPM at 60 MPH. If I were to drive another 1/2 hour my converter starts to lock up and drag my RPM down to 2300 at 60 MPH and my car gets lazy and doesn't want to pull unless I stand on it and make it down shift. My question is why does it only apply lockup sometimes? If I run a volt meter on the line I get between 2vlots and I beleve 12 volts I was hitting or 9 can't remember it was a while ago. Now If I unplug the red wire in the harness I get no lock up but a CE light obvisously so my question is does this TQ lockup sound normal? Also if the TQ is locked up I get huge boost spikes 20 PSI then it will fall off but if I lugg it up a hill with the TQ locked it will hold 20 so I back out of it. MY Forged perf wastegate 17psi holds 17 on the street but when the tq starts to lock its hard to control the boost. Any suggestions?

I would try to find someone who has a scanner, not only to pull codes but one which is capable of getting data stream from the TCU. Perhaps if you can view the real time data, you will be able to determine why lock up is being commanded on only sometimes.

Look for anomalous readings from the TPS, coolant temp sensor, vehicle speed sensor, etc. With a scanner attached, the problem may become obvious.

OK thanks for the input. The shift kit works flawlessly so Im not concerned with it at all its totally in the TC lockup clutch. Now I have a pocket logger but Im not sure if that can read the TCU maybe I need a snap on scanner? Im not sure. If I unhook the red wire which is the lockup wire to my TC I get the CE light but the car functions perfectly as I feel it should. I don't know if driving around will cause any damage to the TC with it unlocked other then fuel mileage?

Again, I think that you should find a way to drive it with a scanner attached, cutting the wire is not the correct solution to your problem.

Remember, unlocked converters generate heat.
