I get so many PM's a day about my turbo I feel that I should write a little article answering all questions I get on a daily basis.
Install
If you buy the install kit(which you should) you will have everything you need to install the turbo.
The L2R uses the stock water lines. You will however block off the oil feed from the oil filter(which a plug is provided) and get the oil feed from the side of the block. This is important becasue if you do not take the oil feed from the block the oil pressure will be to high and possibly ruin your turbo. Also you will want to use the filter becasue since the turbo is BB it is more prone to failing from particles in the oil. The install kit contains all the fittings and the filter. With the "B" housing you should not have to dent the water pipe, the "E" housing will require some "persuasion". The housing is completely clockable so you can rotate it to get the fitment just right. I had to change it around since it was close to hitting the front motor mount.
On the street
This is strictly my views with my car and my mods(all of which you can view in my profile.)YMMV
With an AFC and pocketlogger on a mild tune@18-20psi on 91oct I'm seeing full boost before 4k. I'm sure once I upgrade my fuel management I can reduce that or if I decide to see how much more I can tune out with the AFC. On a turbo of this size I think it's amazing. The lag between shifts is pretty non-existant.It makes me glad I don't have an external dump.I have the internal gate and I see no boost creep at 20psi in the top of 3rd gear.
Problems
None except I was blowing off IC pipes since it spooled so much quicker than my old turbo. Nothing a T-bolt clamp couldn't fix. Also the oil drain line leaked at the pan but that's what happens everytime you swap a turbo.
Final Thoughts
As Sean metioned is his review one of the coolest things is to get out of your car and be able to hear the turbo spool down. All in all it's a big turbo with low spool and almost no lag between shifts. Some people have since swtiched to full garret kits but I love my BallBearing setup.
