Ebay 3in exhaust on 2g GSX

Well, I wanted to post up a review since there were so many people asking about ebay exhaust. I'm not trying to insult anyone else and their review, but I wanted to post one up with pics and vids. Hopefully, someone stumbles on my review and finds it useful.

I felt it was time to replace the stock exhaust on my 97 GSX. I spent a little time researching which one to go with, and I made the leap. I ended up purchasing my exhaust through Japanimportshop for $220 shipped. I chose them based on their great feedback score and the many pictures of the product. The pictures were believable since they had the appearance of being taken outside their shop. It didn't have that generic look. I didn't receive a tracking number after purchase. I did however get a prompt positive feedback from the seller (I hate it when the seller doesn't give the buyer feedback until after the buyer does). Despite not receiving a tracking number the package showed up on my doorstep before I would have expected it to.

Just like most of you out there, upon seeing my new toy I played with it, caressed its polished surfaces, and ogled at its awesome 3in diameter. It was just like the pictures promised me. It did come with the stock downpipe adapter. There were no bottlenecks (unlike the DP I bought from another vendor). I was very pleased with its appearance. See for yourself:

I was a little worried about doing this without a lift, but I managed. I'll skip the removal of my mangled and rusty stock exhaust and move onto the install. As for the fitment everything went together perfectly..... Except for one strange hanger near the gas tank that was on the wrong side of the piping. I shrugged it off as something minor. Someone else might not like leaving a hanger off. It could easily be removed and tacked onto the other side of the pipe. I'll post daytime pics tomorrow.

Last but not least a short clip of how it sounds (I will post something with more light later, It's 1:30am right now):

Overall, I'm glad I made this purchase. I will admit it's not as nice as my Apexi N1 (sound or construction wise), but it does have everything I was looking for (full 3in. piping, good fitment, not too loud, sturdy). Really, for $220 shipped how can I deny the value? $220 Shipped! Thanks for taking the time to read this review, and I hope this helps someone out.

July 2010 update:

To be honest, it's not too bad for the money. I would however, find a way to put pressure or loctite the nuts and bolts in the mid section. Despite having a flex pipe in the down pipe and rubber hangers the vibration losens the nuts and bolts in the mid section. Also, I use my GSX as my beater in the winter, so it goes through salt. My exhaust is peppered with rust spots. I hope this info helps you with your decision.
