The new APM racing equal lengthT3 exhaust manifold

I have been a little busy lately getting the Shinphoenix ready to rise again for the summer. Due to the sheer amount of miles I drive my car, combined with the fact that it actually sees use on crappy roads, my previous thin-walled manifold tended to occasionally crack at the welds. Macek overheard me discussing my issue, and encouraged me to stop by by APM and discuss my needs. I explained that I wanted an equal length header that would hold my T70 without cracking, and would be reasonably priced- The result is their new header. I'd like to give a shout out to the master welders and fabricators over at APM racing for their work on the new APM racing T3 tubular stainless steel header. I installed the very first unit on my car this weekend- I will detail the build process and my impressions here along with pictures off the process...

As you can see, they delivered exactly what I asked for- true equal length runners, T3 flange. Lifetime guarantee against cracks. It will mount a 70mm T4 with external wastegate (using a T3 flange) or any smaller T3 flanged turbo (most are a heck of a lot smaller than a T70) behind the stock radiator and 1 stock fan and 1 slim fan, or a fluidine with dual slim fans. This means that a 1G DSM can bolt on a T3 flanged T-70 T4 with a V-Band exhaust, a T-3 flanged Holset, T3/T4 hybrid, or whatever the heck happens to have a T3 flange up to the size of a Master Power T70without having to relocate the alternator, or powersteering.

Here I placed my old manifold next to the new APM prototype- and you can clearly see the difference in the thickness of the stainless steel.

Here is the almost complete product test fitted on an EVO VIII

-which also happens to have alot of room..so that EVO manifold will be on the way...

I'll post more pictures later

Once again- I'd like to thank APM for the kick-ass work, and Yusuf, Mike Reichen, and Dwight for the heads up on their fabrication abilities.

More pictures of the header during fabrication and prototyping-

I like it because it is like a transformer...

more than meets the eye-

As you can see, the maifold is double welded- welds inside and out so that it withstands the shock and temperature present in racing as well as regular street driving. (one of my primary requests- high flow, but able to be used on the street without cracking)

The new manifold fits perfectly

As you can see, the Tial wastegate clears the powersteering pump, alternator, and the space where the 2nd fan goes back in (I kept it out so the parts showed up better in the picture)
I will provide more updates after the bracing is istalled, and once I have the opportunity to drive my car and determine differences in spool time/wideband readings/boost pressure (I changed no other part in the car other than the exhaust manifold) I'll keep you guys up do date, and
once again, props to the fabricators and welders at APM
