Alright here goes, my first tech article.
I am doing a review/install on a Injen Intake Cyborg Short Ram.
Make sure you have all the necessary parts before doing this.
I used the following;
1 2.5" to 3" Rubber coupler
1 3" to 3" rubber coupler
4 hose clamps
A new intake
A high flow filter isn't necessary but if you want more power it is recommended. I used a K&N filter.
Install
Alright.
1. Loosen the hose clamp closest to the throttle body.
2. Unclip the connectors on the air can (They look like little hinges,)
Be careful, they may break off.
3. Disconnect the valve cover breather hose.
4. Disconnect the stock intake from the throttle body by using a little bit of force.
5.Pull out the MAF, and the stock filter from the air can.
The following is heavily disputed as whether it helps performance or not, But I went ahead and did it anyways, or else the intake would not have fit.
6. Remove the aircan completely.(It should take 3 bolts to come off.
7. Take out the plastic tube connected to the air can that sits freely and goes to the wheel well
9.Pull out the MAF (Flange included) and put a 3" to 3" coupler attaching the end of the intake, to the MAF. Tighten down the hose clamp.
10. Clip in your new filter to the flange with the old little hinge clamps. (It looks a bit funny, but this is how it is supposed to be.)
11. Fit in where the filter end of the intake should go.
12. Attach the new intake to the Throttle body with your 2.5" to 3" coupler, but don't tighten down the hose clamp just yet.
13. Wiggle and move your new intake around to get it into a desired place
14. Tighten down the clamp that was talked about in step 12.
15. MAKE SURE THERE IS NO LEAKS IN YOUR CLAMPS.
16. Re- attach the new Valve cover breather hose. (You may have to cut it to fit, but that's no big deal)
16.You're all set to go, enjoy your new intake and increased (Just a little) horsepower.
Review
After installing the new air filter and intake, I noticed a few changes, they were a bit subtle though.
For starters, my car sounds much more vicious. It has a lower, deeper sound and if I put my head next to the filter, I can actually hear the air sucking through. It seems to have a little more zip to it, but it's hard to tell without dynoing it. I have had it installed for 4 weeks and it has held up perfectly. I have no complaints against this intake and I would recommend others to try it out too!
If I listed a step wrong, or some of my information is incorrect, feel free to PM me. I am always happy to respond back.
