1g OBX N/T Header

I recently bought the OBX Header from eBay. It comes in three parts- the 4 into 2 section, then 2 other parts that replace the downpipe. It also came with the needed gaskets, except the one where the product meets with the Cat. The header is made from T-304 stainless steel mandrel bend, and looks nice and shiny from the box. Installation can take anywhere from half an hour and on upwards of an hour depending on your available tools how good your exhaust mani studs are (by the way NOW is the best time to replace them as you probably dont want rusted studs taking away from the "Bling" factor of your new header ;) ) The downpipe utilizes a slip joint, and turns out to work quite nicely. The O2 sensor mounts in the same vicinity as it does on the stock manifold, which is also nice. After install be sure to wipe down any fingerprints, AS SOON AS you start your engine the header does heat up, and it will show any fingerprints or grease. The sound is deeper, and rather nice at low RPMS. At WOT there is a definite increase in noise, but it lacks any raspiness that may be unwanted. As for performance, there is a definite increase in torque into the 3500 and up range. First and second go by quicker, and in the upper gears I feel a better pull. Most beneficial about the header is a much smoother powerband. As for the stainless finish, it does show some discoloration after being hot, but it is still nice. The engine bay temps will increase, but I believe that is to be expected and not that great of an issue. A lifetime warranty from manufacturer's defects is included, and for $188 shipped to my door, I am very happy with the OBX N/T header. Not only does it look great, it serves a purpose. I can honestly recommend this product to anyone looking for increased power, to complete their exhaust system, or for more BLING in their engine bay....

So, after nearly three weeks I doscovered a problem. The gasket between the downpipe part and the manifold-like part went out. It began to get very loud, and started to leak. My friend and I went to three auto parts stores and they allowed us in back to try and match the gasket. None were to be found. So, i bought some gasket maker, and went to town tracing and cutting out. Once the homemade gasket was on, it seemed fine. Two days later I found myself half an hour away from home with the downpipe part completely disconnected. TALK ABOUT LOUD!!! So, I bought some PERMATEX ULTRA COPPER sealant and used it as a gasket. I did a search and found many DSMTuners use it and love it. It works great. No Leaks now. I also recommend using Loc-Tite on the nuts even though they are self locking, as they still came off on mine. Otherwise, the header is still awesome, and even glows at night ;)
