1G-specific Wrapping a Tubular Manifold/ Header Properly

Here's a quick little writeup on how to properly wrap your tubular manifold.

Parts needed
1 Roll of 1" x 50' Header wrap, I prefer to use DEI brand.
1 Pack of SS Locking Ties, Short (8 to a pack) DEI
1 Pack of SS Locking Ties, Long, (optional, 4 to a pack) DEI
1 Can of High Heat Silicone Spray Coating, (optional, but def. recommended b/c it seals up the header and traps out moisture, which can cause rust, which is bad! I prefer to use either DEI or Thermo Tec brand.

First, start with your nice tubular manifold. Mine is a custom T3 manifold from Tim at Punishment Racing that has also been Jet Hot coated.

Take your wrap and start wrapping it around the runner, after each loop, pull it tight so it stays nice and tight while wrapping. Get 2 or 3 loops done, and then install a wire locking tie about where its in the picture and pull it tight.

Continue wrapping the runner, making sure to keep the wrap tight and make sure to overlap each loop 1/4 to 3/8". This will make sure there won't be any open spots unwrapped.

When you get to the end of the runner, cut your wrap, keep it tight and add another wire locking tie. You should only need 2 ties per runner if you wrap it correctly (tight). Proceed like this until the last runner.

At the end of your last runner tie it off with a locking tie, BUT if you have enough wrap left over, I like to try and wrap it around the collector as much as I can, it can only make it better.

Then I add one of the larger locking ties around the collector to keep it in place, remember keep it tight!

After your done wrapping your manifold spray the entire thing in your silicone high temp spray, do a few even coats and let it dry. This seals out all the water and moisture that could end up killing your manifold.

After its dry, install it and have fun!!
