I have had my headlight housings painted black for awhile now. I had my clear corners for quite some time also. I have been meaning to paint the housings black on them also. Well I finally got around to it. Since some people have asked how I did it. I will show you the steps of doing so. This is ALOT more easeir than doing the actual headlights. It only took about 30 minutes.
1) Pre-Heat Oven to 350 degrees
2) Remove the corners from the headlight assembly. There is only one screw holding them in. Remove the screw and slide the corner assembly toward you.
3) Remove all the rubber peices INCLUDING the bulb.
4) Also remove the rubber stripping around the corner light (this will melt inside the oven)
5) With everything removed. Get a cookie sheet or anything flat you can find. Lay some Tin Foil over that.
6) Place the corner light on the sheet (only do ONE light at a time), Place in oven
Have 2 Flat Head Screw Drivers already placed out ready to use. Also have out some oven mits or something to old the corner
7) The first time I had it on there, It was only for 2 Minutes. That was not enough time for the glue to loosen. Then I went for 4 Minutes. That was enough time for the glue/adheasive to loosen. But this caused the long bracket to bend and almost belt. I just slightly bent it back where it was supposed to be.
8) Use the 2 Flat Head Screw Drivers to pry off the lens. Try starting at the front of the lens where the lip is. It helps alot. (Make sure you have you mits on, HITS HOT!)
9) With the lens off. Lay them aside and proceed with the next corner.
10) Now with both lenses off the housings you can paint.
I just used some normal black spray paint I found. I just sprayed the entire chrome housing.
11) Let dry.
12)Place the Lenses back onto the housings and push them together. Place them back into the oven for only about 2 minutes so the glue can melt again. (You can use a head gun to do this also).
13) Pull them out and push them togther and let them dry.
