i have a gift certificate to get a car alarm installed but the place that does it, doesnt hook up remote starts to manual transmissions... can i get an alarm without remote start and then get a seperate remote start unit installed over it? Or can i even get an alarm they sell with remote start and have someone else install it later? Thx

You can build anything these days, and in the world of contemporary electronics, it's all the easier. Get an alarm that's set up for remote start, and find someone who doesn't have a bazillion-dollars worth of liability hanging over their heads to set it up if you can't.

You might be able to get one of the guys from your shop to do it after hours, if they aren't all drillheads.

Where in minneapolis are you? I'll do it, I've been doing them for over ten years.

no shit! that would be awesome... im gonna bring my car to ultimate electronics soon and get the alarm installed (thats where my gift certificate is) and ill see which ones they have with the remote start capabilities. Once its installed ill contact you. Where do you live btw? im a little south of the cities in farmington, THANKS

To be compatible with a remote start, it only needs to have an AUX output/channel, which almost all alarms do.I can get several different brand remote start units too, new in the box of course.Or if you get your own, make sure it has a start input.I live in the St Paul Park/Cottage Grove area, just PM when you want to get it done and we'll figure something out.BTW have you ever checked out the MN dsm forum DSMStyle.com?

Hey,
I was working the Christmas Season at Cuitcut City (not no more back to school  )and I got a Employe Discont on VIPER DEI-790XV it has a remote start .I havent install it yet. I asked the manger in road shop how much would it be for all Features he said "I would put all the feature but not the remote start" he said that After time goes by...... The remote start will interfear with my turbo and turbo timer!! Is This true or what????????????????

There have been many threads discussing this, but no it will not interfere, so long as it's installed properly.
