new 1g bumper custom(not 56k friendly)

This is what i have done so far. Look a lot like the 2g bumper but it made to fit on 1g. So far i putted at least 60 hours on this and i still got a lot of work to do. I wanted to do a bumper very simple that matches with the car curbs, and i think it does well it job.

the pictures a really bad but that what i have for now.

i was bored so i putted the headlight on and closed the hood so people could had a better idea of the bumper. I took 2 new pictures of it. enjoy!

It not finish so it not painted and there is still work to do but i will look a lot like this. If people like it maybe i will do a few example but im not sure right now.

yeah well right now i cant because the car is too close to the wall to take front picture...it in a corner of the garage. So as soon as i can i will take front picture of it. It also need to be painted after im done...right now it look like shit because it still right the fiberglass. Give me your opinion

you are pretty ruff for something that look like the 2g eclipse bumper. Anyway it your opinion but i think it look way better than the ugly 1g bumper and its flow more with the car curbs. Look like a fish maybe because of the black headlights. Anyway it cant be worse than the intrepid bumper on the 1g talon. Wait until it finish and painted then you will cry.

Come on guys, it's not going to look JUST like a 2G bumper. But it defently resembels one from what I see of it.



BTW: How did you go about doing this?

I'm not bashing, I'm just not seeing the resemblence beyond the fact he filled in the sides of the front bumper.

I mean, it's not "Billy Big Mouth Bass" Whueeeze kit or one of those platypus knock-off "ANDY'Z KOMBAT HYPER NINJA SHOGUN" front ends that are made out of paper maché, so I guess it's good for that?

well i filled the side and redone the center part of it. I also redone the 2 support on the center of it but you can see it on a side picture. Like i said earlier it still not finish.

Well here a little explanation of what i did...I took my bumper off the car and started filling the center part of it with bondo and fiberglass, i also filled the side of it to make the line go away and it doesnt go as deep as before...i made it more flat but it still have a little curve. I Have redone the center bottom part of it( 2 supports) so it doesnt look like a happy smile anymore. I fiberglassed the whole bumper to make it perfect since it was on the car for 12 years the plastic had taken different shape that had to be taken care off.

The front pics are coming soon...i need to have place in the garage so i can move the car back to take front pictures. Right now i cant so this is the reason why i only putted side pictures. For those of you who think iit look like a fish...mmmhh i dont see why but i dont really care the principal is that it look good not if it look like a fish,tiger,a bird,happy smile or anything. I attached a picture of my car before so when i can i will post a picture of the after the making to see the difference.

1Ga has pop ups 1Gb does not

I asked because it looked like there was a big square area behinde your headlights that looks like popups may have at one time been there.

And if this wasn't THAT hard to do to a 1Ga depending on the outcome I might want to try it on my next DSM

NO 1gb all the way. If you are thinking about doing this think about it very well. This is a winter project...i am doing this because i got all winter to do it. If you have patience, a lot and a lot of free time plus the money to do it. Well go ahead! Mine isnt even finish and i putted like 60 hours in it. But it coming very well and maybe in january i will have finished my model. Because after that i still gotta make a plug and do another bumper. For now it a succes beside what some ppl think around here all the ppl who saw it in real life have asked me to do their car and are really impress. So if you are looking for something different i say go for it...it the best way to be unique.

What kind of glue have you been using on the bumper? just curious if your getting good adhesion with all that glue on there.

I've worked at a body shop for a while now and plastics(especially TPO plastics) are tuff to get good adheasion. They are really tuff to get blocked out and straight because they flex.

Looks like a good project. Plastic work always looks ruff before it's primed. Post some pics whens it's primed.

no glue...only fiberglass and bondo were used. But by the way im not putting this bumper back on the car. Im gonna make a plug and do another one with just fiberglass and top quality resin.

And by plug I asume you mean mold?


If you are going to start makeing these and selling them then man I love you. Because I was half hartedly thinking about doing a 1Gb conversion. But I wanted something that was deferent but looked stock, not like some ghey aftermarket body kit.

Are you going to make the mouth and biger? I was personaly thinking I could cut it in half at the center point and use fyberglass and maybe some type of brace if I had to, to add an inch or 1 1/2 " to the mouth.

Dude, his car is a 1Gb, not a 1Ga he is making look like a 1Gb.
