i've herd great things about infinity perfect 12's.. that there sound is amazing... is this true? anything considered better in terms of sq? and even though they are really good in sq can they still pump really loudly? what box would you recommend for them?

If you want a competition type of pounding bass, don't get Perfects. I have them, I love them. They hit hard, but not hard enough for comp. The are VERY fast hitting for a 12, and extremely clear. I would class them as a rock/techno sub versus hip hop/rap sub. Looking at the power curve, they don't deal well with Freq's below 75hz. They work, just not efficiently. Hope this helps, if you want more, let me know.

they are great subs and very loud...with the right install. there's also alot better out there tho, ofcourse you'll pay alot more too.

also, if you've got a sub and make a comment on it, also include box and power you're throwing at it, because you could take a sub, lay it in your back seat and hook it up to your hu and have it sound like crap and then put it in the right box and give it 400w rms and have it sound absolutley amazing....there's alot of variables that need to be considered.

I had a perfect 12. It was great. I had it in a 2 cube ported encolsure for a while and it was LOOOUUUD. Then I switched to a 1 cube sealed box for weight/space savings and it decreased the output noticeably. But it was still enough for me. BTW it was a MTX 200-250 watt amp I'm not sure

I agree 100% with rocketdsm... My buddy had kappa's (very similar in the type of bass they put out) and they were loud as hell. Very fast, smooth but didnt sound great for really low bass notes...which is ok for me!!
