Time for a paintjob-need input

I just recently got my first DSM. '90 eclipse gst. . .and the paint is hurting. . .bad. The spoiler is faded and there's a big 'quick fix' paint blotch on the passenger real quarter panel.

I'm probably gonna get a paintjob next week, but I'm having trouble deciding on what color to go with. Right now it's blue. . . .but I'm not a big fan of it, so I was thinking silver (like the 2g silver. . .or the silver on the evo VIII) and keep the roof black. I was also contemplating all black, but I'm not sure I like how that looks.

I'm trying to stay away from chamelion colors, extremely bright colors (read: yellow, orange, neon green) and I really don't think I want a red car.

So after searching the entire exterior mods thread for a similar post and coming up empty handed, I've decided to go to the dsm community for some feedback. Do you or someone you know have a silver 1g eclipse? Would silver come across as a 'girly' color for my car? Do you have another suggestion that I may not have thought of? Let me know what you think.

Silver and black both look good on 1g's.

with a 1g, I'd do it either all black or gunmetal with gunmetal rims and a black roof. snake eyes to either, it'd look sick

I'd have to agree with the gunmetal. . . mineral gray. . whatever you want to call it. I had thought of silver mainly because I don't see too many 1g silver DSM's and I figured it would make me stand out. Now that i think of it, I don't see many gunmetal 1g's either.

So I think the choices are between:
2g Metallic Silver
Metallic gunmetal
Black

check out my car. When I painted my car I painted the spoiler and that little black piece under the tails. Looks awesome IMO.

I don't know what it's like driving around New Jersey, but around where I live I see 1gs all the time. They're usually really broke down, paint fading, several different colors, lucky if both pop up lights still work, dented, hail riddled, .... you get the picture! Turbo or N/A it doesn't matter and half the time the N/A guys (normally ricers) think they're just as fast. Anyway, no matter what color you decide to go with if it looks equal to or greater than the factory job, and you've fixed 95% (if not all) of your body imperfections you'll get noticed alot more and get tons of complements. Just remember you get what you pay for. Good luck!

Tim, paint it black, like blacked out, black body, roof, rims, tinted out that way we have sweet 1g's that are different and we can roll around beatin all those dumb mustangs and cameros around here.

then all I'll need is one of those chromed out 'turbo' emblems like the on you got off the back of that vw bug.

The paintjob is gonna have to wait a little while. . . .since we all got suspended from work. . . . so it's not getting painted until I get a new job. . . and it passes inspection.

i have a black 91 tsi awd.

Im having it repainted all black. roof and all. And since 91 talons came with the black w/ silver bottom trim, i didnt like it. So im painting the whole car black.

My plans for the car are to have a all black car, no dents, dings, or imperfections. And then, im gonna have some nice gunmetal rims. yep...and for my rear tails, im going to buy those blackout pieces that you can buy, so the whole tail-lamp section is blacked out.

to top it off, im going to buy one of those cursive turbo emblems that you can find on a porcshe.

Those are my plans. maybe you can get some insight from that.

The turbo emblem is sooo cool, if your cool you got that emblem on your car, turbo or not.

Did you get suspended because we always fool around up there?

I've been looking at some of the galleries on the site, and I don't think I like the all black look. . . .but a dark gunmetal would look cool I think with a black roof. . . and of course the turbo emblem. . .gotta have the turbo emblem. looks so much nicer than "Eclipse GS 16 valve dohc Turbo" on the back of the car.

and we got suspended for the video we made of the footrace at NJM. . .the lawyers got a hold of it and had huge bugs up their asses about us taping there without permission. . . .####bags.

So yeah. . .once I get enough cash flow for the paintjob I think I'm gonna go with metallic gunmetal. And an engine swap if I can find extra money somewhere
