My Kenwood CD Player has power but no sound

I had Best Buy install a Kenwood KDC-422 CD/MP3 player and I have a problem. Best Buy had to do a total re-wire because I had the Mitsubishi Premium Sound package with the little 80 watt amp. The problem is my CD player has no sound when I turn on the car, yet it has power and I can change tracks and switch sources. Switching sources usually makes the beeping sound but it doesn't even do that (and yes, I have the "Beep On" option enabled).

The only way to get sound out of my CD player is to power the unit off and wait for my antennae to retract all the way down, then power it on. This does not happen every time I turn on my car, but it does it at least once a day and it's a big annoyance. Could Best Buy have installed it wrong? Does anyone else have this problem? Please help me out, it has been plaguing for a while. I would appreciate it :D

Hopefully they changed out the speakers at the same time as the radio.

The stock Infinity sound system has 2-ohm speakers. This presents a tremendous load on the small amp built into aftermarket radios. It may work a while, but the amp will eventually give out. Hence, power without sound.

Go back to Best Buy, and buy some new speakers and run new wires to them all. Wire those speakers directly to the wiring harness on the deck.
And make them give you a new radio.
They're the ones who screwed yours up.

I had the same problem with my Alpine cd player. I bought it from crutchfield, and they sent me everything i needed, right????

NO! There is probably a plug behind your cd player just hanging out and looking cool. It looks like an S-Video plug for a home theater. It goes from your reciever to your amp. Anyway....ready for the bad news?

I forgot the wire color codes, might be in a haynes manual.

You need to:
1. unplug the white plug from your amp
2. start cutting(three colored wires only)
3. get a small battery
4. hook a wire to each side of the battery, until you hear scratching coming from a speaker. those two wires need to be ran to the corresponding wires in your wiring harness.
5. have fun there's only 5 more speakers to go!!!!

Be careful. They used the same colors for tweeters and rear speakers.

I might still have my notes in my glovebox, I'll take a look tomorrow. I'll Post back if i find anything out.

One time I hooked up a cd player wrong and it flickered, then hooked it up right and go no sound, i fried the outputs, maybe this happened to you also, powered up fine looked fine just no sound
