I need to remove the center vent to make a gauge panel. Can anyone tell me how to remove it? tips and tricks?

I used a flat screwdriver to see if I could pry it off but it didn't want to budge and I didn't want to force it since interior parts are become hard to come by... found out the hard way by breaking a pillar.

Thanks.

You go thru the vent with a little screwdriver & flick this little clip loose - it's tricky - look thru it with a penlite & you'll see what I mean.

like he said, There will be to clips the you need to push a screw driver on and they will pop open, there is on on the outer left of the vent and on the other vent on the outer right.. you'll see them if you look close. just get those flicked open and a screw driver should pop them right out.:)

Why buy when you can make one in 10 min. A flat panel with 3 holes doesn't exactly call for an engineering degree.

Premade panels generally go for $40-45. Add shipping to that and it's $50 to $60. Making one yourself could be as little as $10 or $30 if you use fancier materials. All you need is a jig saw and a hole saw that is close to the gauge diameter in size. A drill press makes the job easy but not required. A decent hand drill would do just fine. Swap the saw out for a sanding drum to enlarge the hole. Cover with leather/vinyl or paint and you're done. You can even do all of the cutting with a rotory tool if you have steady hands.
