So I kinda figured out how to keep the sunroof from rattling... which is to keep it open as much as possible.

Seriously though. I've tried adding washers between the latch and the headliner to bring the latch down further and create more force to pull down the sunroof tighter against the rubber seal. That worked... for a day. Now it's rattling again with a vengences.

I love my 1G and it's tons of fun for a relatively cheap car. But driving down the road with "FLOPPP, FLOPP, FLOPPPPPT" in my ear is really annoying.

If you've been successful in solving this problem, I'd love to hear about what you did. Thanks.

I managed to get rid of the rattle years ago and so don't remember exactly what I did but I've never been able to get rid of the air leak and whisle that happens when I turn the blower motor up.

If I remember what fixed the rattle I get back to you.

Steve

Thanks Steve. I read somewhere that someone replaced the rubber seal with a new one and that fixed the rattle and the whistle. I think I might try that, IF I can find a place that sells the part.

It's taking me forever to track down parts that are either missing or broken in my 91 since a lot of the parts have been discontinued.

No I didn't. Instead, I went to www.parts.com and browsed through all the Mitusu/Eagle OEM parts dealers and compared prices.

Turns out Tenafly was the cheapest. $37 and change for the rubber weatherstripping which the sunroof glass rests against. I'll try that to see if that'll fix it... as mentioned in a older post by Jose (the really nice white 1g with the sleepy eye mod).

If that doesn't do it, I guess I'll have to add more washers to drop the latch assembly down to pull the glass down tighter.

I have a aftermarket sunroof and it leaks and rattles like crazy. I've put so much clear silicone on the leaks and it still leaks. Its very frustrating:mad:
