I need to get an alarm. I have a Greddy TT, but the alarm I want has the ignition kill switch, would that interfere with the TT? Has anyone put in a kill switch type alarm with a TT? And what brand of alarm seems to work the best with the DSM's? I was looking at the Viper 600 series, lots of good feedback on those. Any better ones in the same price range? 300-350ish

It will not interfere with your TT as long as the installer know what he is doing.Viper is a good solid choice for an alarm. They are excellent as far as features and reliability.

How hard is an alarm to install? I have herd so many horror stories about places like best buy ETC? where is the best place to get one installed?

Thats cool. I'll see if I can find one on Ebay or something. If not I'll just head out to Circuit City, my current manager used to manage the car stereo and installation there. He said the crew there is excellent. Or I might just have him guide me through the install myself. Thanks lightning

I just removed my Viper Car alarm today, ARGH. I had 500HF w/ ignition kill. Basically, a relay for it got ####ed up, and I was stranded in walmarts parking lot, and to make it worse, the alarm drained my battery.

There are some decent ones on Ebay, they all basically do the same thing, the ones made by DEI will draw alot less power though. If you dont need one, dont get it, they have been nothing but trouble for me.

Last month i switched from my Viper 300 (for sale) to my new Aladdin A-2000. Installed it myself (basic car wiring knowledge and knowledge of how a alarm works is needed). I love the thing, If your gonna get it done, Tweeter or a Car Audio Specialist, Worst case Circuit City Roadshop, tell them you want a MECP qualified person to do it. The Aladdin, has a built in feature, where you can program your car to run after you stop and remove the key, it will arm doors while running, and arm full after shutdown. No need for a TT. LCD screen, All sorts of features built in Remote Start for Auto or Manual cars.

ok listen up, i got the viper alarm i dont know what model it is but its the one with the pager, ok well reason why i got this was cus i dont wanna go through what i went though with my turbo integra, anyway... ok i got that alarm which it comes with a kill switch, i also got a back up battery for it too, so if they decide to cut it then my alarm at my car wont sound cus they cut it but my back up battery will kick in and my beeper will still let me know something is going on... since my alarm is still active with the back up battery that makes it impossible to start my car, not to include that i have another back up kill switch to start my engine, it cuts my fuel line and in order to start my car (which i shouldnt be telling u guys LOL but oh well ill say what i have in a different way so u guys wont know my button) well every time i get into my car i have to leave the left turning signal on like if i was turning and then push the clutch and turn the key, if i dont have the left turning signal on then my car wont start, it will act dead. so im pretty much set!!!!!!!!! oh yeah and just for u smart people LOL i said left turning signal as an example its not my kill switch button, but something like that can be done. the people who installed mine was a place i always go to that sells aftermarket stuff. the only thing is if i bring it to a place to get it serviced i have to tell them how to start the car or else they will think my car is dead. I also have full cover with insurance which is really the best alarm u can get! the viper alarm with the pager is perfect, i was showering once and my pager went off i ran out side and noticed it was a egghorn thingy from the tree hit my car LOL very sensitive but rather be safe then sorry.

Why did you rip out the whole alarm?Viper's use external relays for the starter kill, you could of just changed the relay.I would guess your problem was the install and not the alarm.Reliability wise, you can't get much better than DEI.Also , all alarms draw about the same amount of current.

Best buy and circuit city aren't the best places for alarm installs, usually the crappy installers far outweigh the good ones. Most big corp/shops have pretty well trained installers, but they only know how to follow diagrams and instructions and not actually know what they are doing or why they are doing it..MECP doesn't really mean much either, unless its a master certification. The small to medium stereo shops usually have the best installers.

I could have replaced it, but I live in a small area w/ no real need, plus i've always had quirkly problems with it. The only thing I liked was keyless entry.

Its ok though, I'm considering a pager one.

I agree with you thou.

hey my eclipseisnice, just curious, do you have to hold youre high beams on and then turn the key???,
I had my alarm installed on my other car, a friend manager at circuit city got it installed, viper "top of the line", whatever, with the motion sensor the proximity and all the goodies for half the price, 6 months later my car wont start. at the races while drinking a cup of coffee at the gas station. something went wrong with it, the friend manager didnt work there no more and couldNT do anything basicly it F..d up the whole electrical system, but im am sure it was the installers fault.....

with my eclipse im just going to put in lojack. If someone tries to steel my car, and knows what they are doing. they will take it regardless if you have an aftermarket alarm or not, and there going to want it for the parts, so with LoJack, the cops can track it down. and with full coverage your insurance is a lot cheaper.

Where I live there has been a lot of Honda Steeling going on, two of my friends got stolen with everything stripped down, and they were all hooked up. and thats all you would here another honda got stolen, another car got broken into. thank god i park my car in my driveway and we have a heavy duty lock on the gate. anyhow, the whole point is that the little punks that are stealing the cars are some teenagers that learned how to hot wire a honda, i guess since theres not alot of eclipses around they havent touched mine.
