Does stock CD player play burned CD's???

i try playing cds that i burned and the cd player simply displays error, but my friend, who used the same cds, but from a different spool (its just a coincidence that we both had the same company/max burn speed/capacity cd...) and his cds will play... the only difference between us would be that hes burning it on a mac, which i know doesnt matter, with the same program as me, and he is burning them at 16x, while im burning them at 40x, the cd's max speed.... could it not be reading the cd because of the high writing speed?

speed shouldnt ready matter, but sometime burning it at a faster speed will cause it to skip and sometime it get an error on it. i sometime get an error when i play my burn cd on my car but it will always work the second time i put it back in.

burning speed isnt the problem its the player. Most older players cannot ready CD-R format because they never existed when produced. Many of the new players play CD-R CDRW+_ . Get a new player.

My stock cd player in my 97 gsx was hit or miss. Sometimes it would play them fine, other times it would read error and I would have to take it out and try til it worked. On my 90, bought an aftermarket of course.

im just trying to find out what the difference is, cuz the cd my friend burned works every time, while mine has never worked...and the only difference i can think of is the speed, the computer, and the fact that the cds were from different spools, but made by the same company, with the same capacity and maximum speed, should i just try burning another cd and see if that works?

Im kinda confused. Did you say your cd player played the cd-R that your friend made but not yours? And yes sometimes if you burn them at maximum speed, its most likely to have an error. So i say try a lower speed like 16x and see if it plays.

thats right, my friends works and mine doesnt,... i try burning one now i guess... but 16x is just soooooo slow...LOL...

I've had better luck with slower burn speed.

Same here, I burn at the slowest speed possible because Ive had problems with the higher speeds.

i just ended up buying a new sony cd player from best buy, and it came with free speakers,(two 6.5 inch dual 120 watt speakers to be exact) i installed the cd player by cutting the wires and electrical taping them together (dont worry im pretty sure what i did will hold...) but im wondering out of ceriosity, is there a harness adapter you can buy to go from one to the other, or was all my time not wasted.... and also there was a third harness that i didnt use at all, and a (what looked like but i know isnt) power supply cored thats thick and L shaped at the end, it went into the radio, then one went from the radio to the cd player, but it isnt used anymore, along with that third harness, what did they do?

also if anyone has a site for door panal removal that would be helpful, ill search later when i have time if no one responds to this...

Yes they make wire harnesses that fit talon/eclipses. Circuit city has them, i think they run around 20-25 dollars tho. But if you know what you are doing with those wires, then i dont think the harness would be anything but a save of time.

It's the color/quality of the dye on your CD-R's

Some are gold, some are silver, some are wierdo freakazoid colors.

Some of the older factory (and aftermarket) cd-players have problems when encountering the more cheaply made dyes.

I usually just go with memorex gold for CD-R music files.

But I got a Mp3 player in the car now. So my 100+ cd collection is now down to a small folder full! :)

*edit* I just seen that you have a 1g.. im not too sure if radio wire harnesses for the 2g are the same for the 1g (prolly are). Someone could prolly back me up on this..

The dealer should have supplied one. They're readily available, for about $3.

Factory amp and rear CD changer cables.

k i dont have a rear cd changer, but im assuming that i can either A) remove the factory amp to save weight, or B) use the factory amp

will the factory amp help that much, and if not, am i right to guess its that thing above the shifter cables and below the cd player/ in front of the ecu? anyone know how much it weighs?

The amp's under the passenger seat. It weighs all of two pounds. There are adapters available to enable using it with after-market head units, but its measley power makes the effort futile.

In My case, It didn't work. I already had a bunch of Burn Cd and decided that it will be better installing and aftermarket Cd player from my old CAR in order to listen to them.
Plus The illumination light didn't work and wanted some room for GAUGE :D
