Hey guys,
i was told it will be less trouble if i stick with the infinity amp and replace my head unit + speakers only my question is how good does this amp perform? I am getting a pioneer head unit w a mosfet 50 wich is pretty good but i was wondering if the stock amp will provide good sound since from what i have heard the bass sucks

Thanks

Well... If the radio your getting has the EQ, then you should have no problem with the amp, you can adjust the setting from the head unit. If you really want to go for the best sound you can get then upgrade the amp.

First the pioneer head unit (any) will not hook up to the stock infinity amp.

if you use the factory harness it basically disables the amp.
Inorder to use the stock amp, and reain the use of the front tweeters there is an adapter that uses the rca jacks in the back of the head unit, and connects them to the stock round amp jack (It's like 8 pins)

the stock amp adapter can be found at www.crutchfield.com

your gonna hate me for telling you this but what you will have to do is a complete rewire on your stereo. it is the same on eclipses as it is with mustangs and anything that has like bose audio or premium sound. i know this because i used to work at a stereo shop. youll have to run all new stereo wire, all new harnesses and alll fun stuff. best bet for you would be to have a shop do it for you because its a pain in the ass to do it on your own.

No, you don't need to rewire your entire system.

Simply tear the amp out. You don't need it. Most any aftermarket head unit will put out as much if not more power then the stock infinity amp, so to try and incorporate it into an aftermarket system is pointless, not to mention a waste of time and confusion.

damn this sucks it's too hard, i'll have to pay somebody

thanks

so how do you eliminate the amp and have the aftermarket head unit drive the stock speakers? I just bought an adapter harness to connect my new head unit to the factory harness...I thought that was enough, but apparently not :(

you cant just rip out the amp without rewiring the speakers

Actually you can, I did. You just have to splice the wires together that use to run through the amp.
