My boy and I removed the old shifter and ordered an MT shift knob of our choice and used the stock shifter spring to change through gears. We also put a M/T shift boot over the stock shift plate. You just push down the shift knob and click through park. We bought a new switch for O/D and put in the cigarette lighter's place because it dint work anyway.

Looks GREAT :thumb:

Hope to post pix soon... need a digicam

Are we the first to do this? has anyone else done it?

I think I've heard of people doing that before, but I haven't seen pics. I've been wanting to do that to mine too, was it pretty easy?

well i have a 1g but i think it's prolly the same... i just snipped the wires.. theres 3 of them inside the insulation... just cut it close to the O/D.. are you gonna use relocate the stock one or use another one?

i bought mine from radioshack .. it was circular with red button u can also get the black button one... it had 3 prongs on the bottom 1 gold and 2 silver.. it was like 2.69 or sumthing

Note: on hookin that up... hook up the black + yellow wire to the middle and red wire to other silver one left over ... do not use the gold one... it took like an hour of fiddling while drivin the car to get it right

We did that on a Toyota MR2 MKI a couple of years ago... it works out ok, but the shift knob likes to come of every now and again...
