anyone have a pic of the CF hatch? or any of the CF talon parts they offer? im aware there are pics on the site, but they arent that good, the pieces are painted, and some chicks ass is in the way of half of them. searched and search but noone has one of these??

thanks in advance

oops, put it in the wrong forum:rolleyes:
yeah im a newbie, dont be too tough on me lando. :D

I ordered some CF parts from him a while back. If he ever ships them and if I ever receive them I'll post detailed pics. Send me a pm in 7 days to remind me.

IGS, when youre ready, the pics im looking for mostly are the edges, and some shots of the weave itself as well, im looking for quality, both in material and finish, I plan to buy alot of parts (if im satisfied) from them and the website is little help. some parts will be painted and i want them to look good enough to pass off as stock, others will show the weave and i want to see that as well. if you have any comments about fit and finish once theyre on the car I'd also be interested in hearing them.

thanks again

It got held up at customs. Should be here Tuesday.

Here are the pics. Let me know if you want a close up of any part.

Looks like you're going to have to modify if you want to run any other sideskirts besides Talon skirts. Too bad.

only request i have now is pics upon installation, and any defects you happen to see, (is that a bend i see in the upper right hand corner of the 2nd pic?)

thanks very much for your help so far. :)

Those parts don't look bad at all! Not really what I was expecting but not bad at all. I am almost positive that they were meant to be primed and painted by the looks of the surface finish though. I am quite suorised to see chop strand behind the carbon. I would have went with a woven s-glass or e-glass to clean it up and strengthen it.
If you ever do go with aftermarket side skirts you can cut the bottom off with out a problem to get side skirts on. My Bomex side skirts actually fit right over that part on my Talon. Bomex=perfect fit! Of course I am not going to leave that part on though.
Anyhow, nice purchase and thanks for posting pics....you surely can't see the parts on the site for squat.

...of course if you paint them you can always leaves some "negative" areas in the paint job so it shows.

Pic 9 and 17 are of the same area and show the biggest defect I found. A large chunk of gel coat has completely chipped off leaving bare carbon fiber. There are several other similar flaws along the edges where vacuum bagging would have prevented, but they're not too bad.

The finish looks like crap right now because I haven't washed it (it came very dirty from UPS), and I had him not put on a layer of clear coat. I'm hoping it will look better after I wash and wax, I will post pics later.

Fitment is pretty good, except for the sideskirt part, which turned out to be a nightmare. I've chopped off the bottom part since I have Eclipse sideskirts, and there is serious alignment and support issues in that area. I'll take pics of it on my car after I've figured everything out.

igs,
Go to www.fiberglast.com and check out there tech section or whatever they call it. You will find some pages on fixing gel coat damage and a bunch of other usefull things that might help you out. You can also buy supplies there to help you also. Fixing gel coat blisters like that isn't all to hard....saram wrap and tape :) Check the site out....and if you log onto the forum you can scour it for info too. I am "boogieman" or "jawasan" or ???? on there.

Figured that was some of what I was seeing..like mold release or somthin'. For the most part though if you lighty sand it with 1500 and then clear it with PPG diamond clear,or any other actually, it will come out fine after buffing it out. Not sure if you are painting them or not or just clearing it.
Cool that someone out there is making carbon body parts for our DSMs. I think Magnus was offering fiberglass...hell, might as well offer c/f too...not much more of a hassle (less in my opinion).
