IS there a step by step guide on replacing my stock infinity system( 2g GST) for an aftermarket head unit?

Any links?

How comfortable are you with electrical installations? Have you torn the dash apart before? What tools do you have?

I would suggest that you get a buddy that's done this before to walk you through if you are new to this.

well i just got an aftermarket install kit(just the place to put it in).
The guy in my local shop said to unplug the speaker cables from the stock amp and run them to my head unit.

I will have a buddy help me put it on tommorow. I have no experience on replacing stereos but he know a bit. Thing is the spund shop is charging me $45 for isntall.

45$ isnt a bad price really if you dont know what youre doing. but just so you know the stock infinity amp doesnt work with any other head unit than stock. it sucks anyway though. if youre replacing the CD player youre gonna want to get aftermarket speakers itll sound 10x better even if you just throw in some sonys or pioneers that will cost you less then 200$ depending on what quality you buy

ok,
i'll get some new speakers too, thanks

No one have a guide on how to do this?

If you plan on keeping your amp, you'll need a special adapter. It takes the front & rear preouts from your new head unit and converts it to the DIN style plug used on your factory amp.

Also, I'd recommend getting the SCOSCHE version of the dash kit. The American Products version is JUNK. It is VERY brittle and will likely snap into pieces.

And of course the wiring harness.

As far as a step by step guide goes, here's a rough guide.

You need to remove the center console completely. To do this you need to pull out the cup holder & ashtray and remove the 2 screws underneath. There will be 3(maybe 4) screws on each side of the console that need to be removed. They are in plain sight so just look for them.

Now you need to pull the plastic trim off from around the a/c controls. It just snap out so just pry gently.

From here you should be able to figure it out. I believe its about 6 more screw to remove the radio. You'll need to lift the center console out to get to it.

Good luck and I hope this helps out.
