If you mounted a snowshovel type wing upsidedown on a FWD vehicle, could you make the back end hover at a certain speed? Don't take this thread too seriously. I just think it'd be fun to see DSMs or whatever goin down the highway with their asses pointed to the sky!

hmm...I'd love to see a civic hover it's ass on over into the ditch. I agree, had to be drunk to make this thread...LOL

Yes, in theory you could. Ask yourself what the spoiler is attached to the car with, then ask if that can support the weight of the vehicle. If you have a park ben... sorry, spoiler, mounted on the sheetmetal of the car, the answer is no. Second, attempt to measure the lift generated by the, ummm, wing/spoiler. If it is not exceptionally high (most are not), then the structural support makes little difference. Yeah. I would like to install some park benches upside down as a practical joke if it actually worked...

Well obviously, if the wing had enough lift to lift the back end, it would rip off. But if you welded a strong enough support to the body, then installed the wing, you could hover your ass. You might need some sort of moving control of the spoiler though... perhaps a twist grip on the e-brake that could angle the wing up and down... you could do touch and go landings! YAY! Oh, by the way... not drunk, just weird.

The wing control would have to be beefy as hell (holds weight of car). Yeah, you could do it. Probably aren't enough wings on the market that have the kind of lift that you need....

Well it could work, but it would take more than just a single shovel wing. You'd also need about 200-300mph to get her airborn.

You would need a wing, one that produces lift, which park benches do not. Of course, you could design your own, but the surface area would be huge, and the cost prohibitive. I think the key here is to remember that for the most part, park-benches are aesthetic.

Now I know how I'm gonna make my millions! I will design a wing that produces a $hitload of lift then I will market it to all the teenie boppers who drive rice! It'll be all the rage! The news stations will talk about kids who hover their backend. TapperWings... "Put your ass in the air!"

My friend and I were considering adding a HUGE spoiler to his 3 cyl GEO METRO, and moding the exhuast to sound like the Jetsons...

If I made a jetsons kit, maybe we could start a business with the "POSITIVE LIFT SPOILER" idea and sell both. Oh shit, wait...APC was already created. :p

Hey it will put more weight on the front tires so when that car comes out of a corner that 3 cyl will get some traction. LOL

I really wanna see a Geo Metro that can run an 8. I would have to say that that would be one of the coolest things ever. Yup... definitely.

i think it was in impot tuner last month they built a geo storm that ran 12s. its no 8s but for a geo its impressive as hell

Not sure if it's the same car, but the shop that works on my car (Inline Racing) has a geo storm that runs 12's. The mechanic's name is Huy, and is very well known in the Houton, TX area. He built the Turbo'd Civic that went up against turbochargers.com 1st gen. The shop is famous for it's "anti-rice" ambience, his most famous quote is "This is a performance shop, not a body shop..." in fact, the only decal passed out is rather small (about 8-9 inches long and 1 1/2 inch in width) that says "inline racing" to be placed on the rear quarter window for, obviously, advertisement reasons, is only given to you after you break the 13 second barrier.

someones been playing a little to much gt3. (pikes peak escudo that lifts off with the right settings.....)

Well, if you draped one over a V-6... The did build a turbo version, y'know. I have no idea what turbine was in there, but it had to be cute as a kitten. And about as vicious.
