I recently purchased a component speaker system for my 96 eclipse. I want to install the tweeters where the factory dash speakers were but I am afraid the holes are too big to fit 1 inch tweeters. Has anyone run into this problem? I was also wondering if you can run a component system with just the receiver, I have an Apline 50 watt x 4. If so, how do you wire it up to the crossover?

PLEASE STOP POSTING QUESTIONS IN THE TECH ARTICLE SECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Moved.

a friend of mine put his in the little triangular panels next to the driver and passenger windows. Its pretty small and he cut out holes and use fiberglass to mold it all, but its a good spot for them.

You can run off deck power. Simply connect the +/- to the input of the crossover, it then is split to the speakers. I would recomend that you use an amplifier though as most decks run less power than a component set needs. Remember, more power does not mean louder DB per say, it really means cleaner sound at low volume.

the closer the tweeter is to the center of the mid/woof the better its going to sound.

That is not correct. The point of a seperate mid and tweet is to enhance imaging by producing sound over a larger area. However, you do want the tweet to be within 6 inches of the mid. If this doesn't make sense, consider a Magnapan Home audio speaker versus a conventional cone and tweet.

I am in the painting stage of fiberglass pods that mount to the triangle panels near the glass n each door. These tweeter pods havent been hard to build, its been more of a hassle to find the time than actually building them. I'll be posting a full picture write-up at the end of the week when I am done.
