Im trying to find a good set of new subs. I have been looking for 2 12" JL audio subs. I just cant decide between the W3 or the W6. I want one that will sould good listening to rock, rap, and just about anything. I want to really feel the subs hit but i dont want it to over power the rest of the music.

i was looking at the W3v2 and the W6 and the W6v2 but really im looking to save some money so i was looking at the W3. I really dont need any show quality i just want something that you can hear from a good distance away from the car. Larry how does your system work and how much power are you running to them?

I guess I'm just too loyal. My first sub was a 12w1. Never looked back, JL all the way. I ended up doing DB Drag competition's in '96 and I upgraded it to an 18w3 in a fiber molded enclosure in the spare tire well (1993 300zx Twin Turbo 2+2 J-Spec that I brough back with me, she was my second). Being pushed by a McIntosh MC4000M. Such a waste! looking back, I could have spent that $5000 in better places, but it's what I wanted at the time. BTW, the Focal's up front sounded soooooo loud with 200 watts.

I was unable to re-enlist. I have too much hearing loss now and MEPS denied my application. Never should have left Japan. So I guess I'm saying...turn it down when you're crusing. There's no need to keep it on 11 (If your amp goes that high ;) ) all the time.

Jeeze I ramble too much...gotta quit bringing the hootch to werk. ::hick::

Im not sure what you mean how does it work unless you mean how does it sound, which it hits harder then I ever really needed it to.. Each SUB has its own 100 watt mono sub amp runnning to it and the amps are only turned up half way.. there REALLY loud.

i agree, if you are doing 2 subs , go w/ a W3. I have a W6 12 and I would only use a combination of 1 or 3 for W6's. They demand a lot of power and take up some serious space when you go in multiples.

if you want quality with a deep bass go with the new W3 V-2 i had some in my talon but i sold them for some parts they sound good for low bass and they hitt harder than w6

the new W6 is great, they do'nt need to go in 1 or 3s
new W3 is ok too
i used to own a 12 W3 .. ran it on a jl 500.1 it took the power..but...also liked to bottom out a good amount

:::Dreams about the day he can say that:::

one of my friends has 4 jl12w7s. ive never heard anything like it. the whole car shakes when the radio is turned up at 50%. with the subs and the box it lowered the cargo area of his '02 explorer 3 inches...LOL we turned it up to about 75-80% one day and they blew out the rear window and the rear side windows, needless to say he invested in some plexi glass. i have no idea what he has powering them, im not really into car audio...
