i know removing the air bag is illegal unless it deploys, but..

lets say i have friends who own their own body shop and engine shop.

and i hit a curb or something and the airbag came out, but i decided not to report it to my insurance since i can get it fixed for next to nothing anyway.

would this work if i got pulled over and a cop asked about the aftermarket steering wheel?

or is it required to report a deployed airbag?

ive never had a cop say anything about my steering wheel -- id say your prob ok unless you live somwere were there REALLY strict.

i dont thing its ilegal to remove the air bag unless you dont tell the next owner of the car that you removed them.

I've not found an answer to this yet. It's illegal to _sell_a_new_car_ in the US without airbags, but I've not found anything about an owner's ability to remove it, unless it's under some "don't muck about with the safety stuff" statute.

Removing your airbag is not illegal, unless you live somewhere that is really strict (like said above).

BUT..... removing the airbag may cause your auto insurance premiums to go up....

One of my buddy got in trouble when he took off his... I think he got fined from the insurance company, becuz when he got into an accident, there was no airbags that deployed, which was supposed to becuz his insurance co. knew his car was supposed to have it.....
