I am considering attempting to make my own sort of custom box for my car. I'm not the biggest car audio freak out there, but I love my music and want to at least have a decent set up for the amount of cash I have. Right now I have a Pioneer DEH-P300 Head unit, Fosgate speakers all around, and 2 12" punch XLC's in crappy boxes and a 900 watt Lanzar Vibe amp in the hatch. I know its not the best set up, but it works fine for me. Anyway, I love my car, but whoever made the spare tire in the back stick up is an idiot. I've considered taking it out, but Im not sure if I should. As long as I've had the subs/amp in there, they have kind of been loose and I've been working on different set-ups. I noticed a lot of people's pictures who have customized their hatch, and I want to do the same. I am thinking of maybe cutting a piece of wood to fit exactly the hatch's size, mounting it in, pointing the subs up facing towards the glass, and screwing the amp in on top of the wood. Then of course carpeting it. I have seen a set up similar to what I am explaining on other DSMs, but I don't know if how I explained it made any sense at all. Do any of you have a really good set up in you hatch? Possibly with pictures? What would you suggest for me to do? Thanks~

make a regular box......leave the top off it, put it in the hatch and cut a piece of mdf board to fit the hatch exactly....use that as the top of your sub box. it's basically a false floor with a sub box underneath. then mount the subs facing up and throw the amps anywhere (i'd put them behind the rear seat on the side somehow. i did this on my first eclipse and it looked awesome...not too hard either. only tricky part is making the piece to fit your hatch EXACTLY. i don't have any pics of that setup tho, sorry.

The boxes I currently have won't fit well in the hatch, so I will have to cut them down to size. Thanks for help!

the amps are ppi art series amps i believe, that setup is owned by a guy from another dsm board im on
