Are very light black ghost flames too ricey on a red 1G GSX? my boss wants to do something custom, so i need opinions, thanks :thumb:

no money for mods yet  after car payment and insurance im left with $100 a week, but all i need is the 3 inch turbo back and i should be good, My buddy is willing to buy the cat back for me and i'll pay him back, and i'll have 2.5" DP custom made, so we'll see

im just afraid they'll be too ricey, and once they're done, they're done, so yeah, i need all the help i can get, from the dsm community anyways, my mustang driven buddy sais "they just wont look right" so i need help

One question for you. How do you relate ghost flames to rice?

Where were ghost flames first sean? If im not mistaken Hot/Street Rods... thats far from rice.

Ghost flames are by no means rice. If you plastered the red car with neon green vinyl flames, that would be rice.

I am actually prepping my Supra for a pearl white with ghost flames. That is, if I don;t paint it the same color as my Nighthawk. Still in prep stages, so we'll see....

I can agree that bright stand out flames dont look good on anything other than old muscle cars, but ghost flames can be done tastefullly and add a touch of mystery to the paint, as well as a little more depth.

ghost flames are sweet.. i'd say do it.. just somethin small though, dont go all the way back to the rear tires

I'm actually thinking on the Supra of going to about the first 1/4 of the door. Just little wisps, though. Maybe only to the back of the fender. Then we are thinking about using house of colors glow in the dark additive for the clear coat over the flames only, so the flames glow in the dark.

Maximage, the idea for the flow in the dark stuff would be just plane FORKIN SWEET... that is as long as it was only a little and it bearly glowed. just reinforceing the whole ghost effect...

When I did the additive on my RX-7 over pearl white, I did the whole car. At night, you could see it, but it wasn't in your face bright. So yeah, over the flames at night would be a subtle glow, making the car look like it is actually haunted. Thanx for the encouragement. My finace said ackk.. white.. but I think it would look killer.

Ghost flames?
Can i see some pics, im a littleconfused here.. LOL nothuge ass flames are they?

Who cares if it's rice or not? If you like it do it! You shouldn't care what the people here think about them. As you can see, I don't.

Nope, not huge bright flames. Ghost flames are actually nearly impossible to take a picture of. Basically ghost flames can only be seen when looking at the car in certain angles and lights, like they are there but not. Very subtle, nothing flashy, but gives the cars paint a mysterious depth.

pics please. And mizundastood is right. If you like them, fuk what THey say

eclipse, I would post pics, but the car isn't painted yet. Actually, it looks like someone got crazy with masking tape and construction paper, and proceeded to get even more nuts with a power sander...hehehe Lamost down to bare metal, going to prime it this weekend.

ghost flames are the same color as the base coat, but the contrast comes from the shiny/flat next to each other.. and they can be seen subtly (sp?) at weird angles

The "do what you want" mantra is nullified if:
a. you ask for opinions.
b. you need approval to do it.

flames dont look bad becessarily,
neather do any other custom paint jobs. Its all about the color though, like the last guy with the 7g paint job with crazy skulls and all kinds of stuff - his car looked pretty ugly because it had jsut about every color from the rainbow. Same goes to the kid with neon flames on the hood
