ok i will be buyin a kit for 97 eclipse rs buy september and i want to paint tha entire car plus bodykit instead of paintin tha kit to match. right now my car is tha stock charcoal gray or w/e tha name for it is. what i want to do is paint it a nice blue like a couple of tha eclipses i saw in tha gallery. my question is, about how much do you think it would be to hav tha entire car painted blue? im not lookin for nethin amazin, jus a nice blue. ive heard anywhere from 400 to a grand. jus thought id see what you guys thought. thanks.:dsm:

To get a good looking paint job without a lot of overspray and a good prep job you are looking at $1500+ unless you know someone who does prep/painting..

You can go to a cheap place like Maco but if you do, you should prep the car yourself, prime, fill, sand and take out your headlights, taillights, mirrors, tape stuff up, degrease your car to take off the wax etc. etc. because they don't do much at all to properly prep your car.. The prep phase is one really important phase that will either give you a crap or outstanding end result.

I've heard of horror stories where they have even painted over bird crap on the car that comes in. But each shop is different, do your research on the shop you pick because the difference could be night and day.

The reason why the cheap paint shops are cheap, is because they don't do all the labor intensive stuff that goes into the process when prepping the car.

I checked out the color of you car.. I personally think it is sweet.. but to each their own... You could do a full shock/spring with a 1.5" drop for $400 and put the rest into a set of rim/tires for sub $700-$800 with free shipping from www.wheelmax.com.

I was originally going to do the paint job thing as well but I am so glad I got my suspension and rim/tire setup first.

So just think, for $1500 you can have a good paint job with stock suspension and rims..... OR.....
You could take that $1500 have your kit color matched, new shocks/springs and new 17" rims and tires..... or spend an extra $200 and get some 18's

Your body kit will look soooooo much better if your car is dropped on a sweet set of rims/tires

sorry.. I get chatty :)

well I just checked this out myself ... to paint my car the same color, KONA BLUE ... it would cost me around 2500, that includes them taking out the windows, lights, degrease, etc etc etc.... thats a color match! You wanna do a complete color change plus add the body kit ... your looking closer to 3 or 4 G's ... good luck! AND STAY AWAY FROM MAACO! just a word of advice!

Do you want to do a full color change or spot/spray? A full color change runs about 4 grand because the completely tare your car down, including the interior. A spot/dpray is where they paint where the old paint is most visible ex- the body, door jams, inner fenders in the engine bay stuff like that. To do that good is about 3 grand, no joke. Painting a car nicely isnt cheap or easy. Save the money and have it done right the first time.

after readin all this im thinkin bout jus paint matchin tha body kit and then doing a full color change once im finished with everything else i want on my car. thanks for tha help guyz:thumb: :dsm:
