97-99 Headlights on a 95-96 stock front bumper (fitting)

I know 95-96 headlights on a 97+ bumper leave a gap right? If I put 97-99 Headlights on my 96 Bumper, do they fit right?

Reason I ask:
The Rudora kit comes either 95-96 fit (rear and front are different) I have a 96 and want to keep my reverse lights, but on the front bumper I'm looking to upgrade to 97-99 headlights, MAYBE projectors. If I get a front bumper to fit my 96 headlights (till I have enough to get 97+ headlights) will it fit?

95 bumper w/ 97 lights = gap

97 bumper w/ 95 lights = wont fit

see image if you put 97-99 headlights on 95-96 eclipse. that is 1 big gap...

I'm currently trying to determine if early lenses will fit the later backs- I have a sneaking suspicion they will. That little "flap" on the inboard side of the later housings is just too suspicious.
