It looks good ..... but i can already see sum of the paint chipping off on the bottom of the door panel where it says Eclipse.... i want to know how long you have to wait between coats and how many base coats and clear coats should i put on

im planning on redoing the whole interior again in a few weeks wen summer starts

Basically wut i did..... clean it with rubbing alcohol.... and sprayed the duplicolor vinyl paint on it..... like 2 coats... then 2 clear coats... but i dont think i waited long enough between the coats

yeah dude if it is chipping already then you didn't wait long enough. as far as how long to wait couldn't tell you. the way i was going to do mine is take the whole interior off clean it paint it let dry paint again let dry then the next day put on the clear coat but then again that might not be a good idea either

I gave mine 10 mins inbetween color coats and 15mins inbetween clear coats! You just have to go by what the can says ... they are all different! I painted mine with FOLIATEC paint from jcwhitney and it came out killer! like a brand new interior! I'll post pics later tonight!

i painted the items while they were on the floor so the can was paralell to the ground.... should i lean them against a wall or sumthing to hold the can upright or does it not matter?

the first thing you should do is primer the pieces.

from my experience with 1G interior painting...the material doesnt like to allow JUST paint to stick to it. get you some "Filler Primer" and prime it first. then paint it.

here's how i did mine.

cleaned with steel wool
cleaned with rubbing alcohol
2 coats filler primer (no sanding, unless you have runs)
3 coats color (light sanding between coats, just for a better stick)
3 coats clear (VERY light sanding between coats, for better polished look)

put em back on and you're good to go. :thumb:

*also* it shouldnt matter how you set the pieces, as long as the spray can isnt spitting out blotches instead of an even spray.

use DupliColor for best results. :thumb:

later,

I was told that the Krylon Fusion was real good, but I think that is for the plastic panels like I have. I am going to do mine real soon, any suggestions?
-Rob

yeah, the fusion is for the plastic parts. only problem with it is they dont have very many detailed colors. they have basic colors like blue, red, white, yellow, etc, not "medium blue metallic" or anything like that. if you know what i mean.

As long as they have black and grey I will be happy, For those of you that have used it, how did it turn out? I am going to paint EVERY panel in my car, I hate that camel tan crap.
-Rob

I just put pics in my gallery of my door panels .......
I used FOLIATEC paint and it came out great! The only thing I have left to do is the trunk space! and THE DASH ... AHHHHHH not looking forward to that!
