Whats the best way to prep and polish/chome/shine the stock 1G exh. mani. heat shield by doing it at home? Ive heard using a scotch pad and just rubbing it to hell, and Ive heard of some Mothers/McGuires polish that works really well. Can someone steer me in the right direction? Thanks....

I used sand paper and got all that old factory paint off, then started to use mothers mag and aluminum polish. It takes a lot of rubing.

Mine pissed me off though, I got it all polished up, then went out to visit one of my friends(about a 6 hour drive in total). When I got home and looked at my heat shield the fuggin thing had turned blue from the heat! I'm contemplating just painting it now.

Then there is always powdercoating with Hi-temp powders...it's just not shiny anymore.

ya cant polish cast iron and have it stay that way -- it will rust with the first drop of water
