What head unit is the best bet?

Hi guys. I just got my 92 Eclipse and it sounds pretty good. It came with the factory premium sound option, so I have 6 speakers. I'm going to get a new head unit pretty soon, and I had a couple questions.

I installed my last head unit myself in my CRX. It only had 4 wires on the harness though. So when I get the Mitsu harness, will it have hookups for all 6 speakers?
------------------

Also, I have the tape deck on top and the EQ on the bottom. Should I leave the EQ in or rip it out and just have the head unit? I think it would be cool to leave it in because I like the equalizer control settings, but the EQ has the master volume and if I put the head unit in on top, there would be two volume knobs :) Anyway, what have you other 1G owners done?
------------------

What's the best solution to getting just a *little* more bass punch from my system. I don't want 25 subs overflowing out of my car, and I don't like much bass anyways, so I figure 1 10" would do. Do I need an amp for just 1 10" and if so what brand and power should I get?

Thanks all,
Jason

id ditch the eq if you get a nice deck...just buy some better speakers to replace the factory door, dash, panel speakers and one 10" will sound clean in your trunk and you will need an amp. as far as brands..you are going to get a huge variety of opinions here. depends on what you are going for..and what you like.

i personally like running with Eclipse head units and components.
i like running memphis subs and amps. clean and powerful sounds from everything. the components will blow your mind!!!

I'm a personal fan of MBQuart. I had them in my old Talon and I really loved them. I have Pyle driver speakers all the way around in my new car and I can't complain. As far as subs, I'm sticking with the 2 MBQuart RWC 304s that I have from before. I'm pushing 300 watts per speaker and even though I can shake the car to pieces if I want to, they still sound nice and clear even at low power.
