i need some opinions. im getting new wheels and am willing to pay up to $1500. i dont know what to get though. 17's or 18's. As well as brand. i know i want black or gunmetal. i really havent found a brand that appeals to me. i kinda like the tenzo r's shu-4's, but not to big on the aluminum lip. anyone have any suggestions. they dont need to be super light, but i want something w/ style i guess. Also, i need to know how big in all dimensions i can go. as wide as possible and stuff. and one more thing. what size tires should i get. i dont want real thing and i dont want fat, something in the middle. thanx

well at wheelmax.com i can get 17's for about 1200 and i believe 18's for around 1400-1500. all rims w/ tires. but the money really isnt an issue. i just prefer to stay under or at most 1500

well there aren't alot of gunmetal rims w/o a polished lip

ok, well if they pretty much come w/ it thats ok, i just need some ideas. the most important thing however is the dimensions. i want to know how wide i can go, how big i can go, what size tire is suitable so i dont bend the rim or i dont want a fat tire and 17's or 18's

am i correct saying that 8 in. wide is the widest i can go? i was just looking for some rim ideas, thats all. i also saw at tirerack.com, i believe it was there, that they suggested 225/##/18, i believe. whats that like?

I would consider weight over looks, then go from there. I bought some split 5-spoke ADR Gunmetal w/polished lip for $435 including lugs from www.whalentire.com They only weigh 18 lbs (there are lighter, but not for the price I got) and look decent. On tires, I recommend Yoko's, but www.speedwaremotorsports.com digs bridgestones. To each his own.

I also was told 8in is max with our stock back-spacing. What are your goals here? I personally want to corner better, but get some mileage too...

i kind of want looks. i do want something fairly light too. i only have a n/t. so obviously im not smoking too many people here. have a hrc stage 2 kit w/ fmic on the way. so i guess something reasonably light, but more style. but like you said cornering. what size would be good for that?

Once again I have heard (no direct experience yet with dead car) that a 225/45/17 is sweet for cornering and acceleration... Oh, an NA can also benefit from weight savings, which you know...
