i like those lights and LOVE the hood and polished goods... im going to get the tail light bulbs once i get my carbon tails and wire the lights to those, im thinking of making them blinkers or maybe brake lights , im not sure... any opinions?

Ya none of those parts are for a eclipse....they all were for my 3k. I am not sure who on this site can make molds but it would be sweet to have a hood like that on a eclipse. There are many people on 3si.org that do molds/replicas parts. If there is much interest for a group buy someone will mold it

The middle two lights that are clear shine much brighter then the others. If you want to make blinkers or brake lights out of them you will have to drill a much bigger hole.....still will work!!!!

I did the same thing to my 1G w/ CF tails. If you want them to match red just use 194 red "mood" bulbs, and I used 90* ford bulb sockets. I wired them to come on w/ parking lights, turn signal might confuse since they are near center of car and I liked the contrast of just the outside 2 lenses lighting up with brakes.

Heres a pic of the construction with the bulb type ( 194R red bulbs), the round Halex electrical supply rings I got at home depot which I siliconed around the holes I drilled for bulb height, and the 90* Ford bulb sockets which are a soft plastic like rubber so they fit snuggly into the grey Halex rings so I can change bulbs later if needed. The metal behind the center piece needed to be dented with a hammer where the bulb sockets hit so they are held in tight by the body work and a hole was drilled for the wires to get to the stock tail harness to tap into.

Thanks man and its cheap the Halex things were $1.00, the ford bulb sockets were like $2.99 each, and red bulbs were $4 I think. I kinda like the way yours look white in the center then red around the edges, kinda cool unless a cop hassles you thinking those are reverse lights. Are they a bright white in the middle then red around the edge or is just that the pic quality?

i wanna do that for my 2g....do you have to worry about the bulbs heating up to much.,,,,,or is that only with the stock lenses

So far so good....no melting or anything.

The middle two are clear so it gives that bright white look. I hope the cops have better things to do then to worrie about working tail lights!!!

dam Talonman, those really look nice on a 1g - im not real big on tails- but those look clean.

Thanks man, after the first week of withstanding the flurry of being called ricer and other names Im finding most comments now are positive. Heres a closer in pic below. BTW your gauges are off the hook from your spaceship thread, digital is prob easier to take in all the info at a glance.

cant speak for the 2G tails but I havent had a melt down with my 1G middle piece yet. The small sidemarker 194 bulbs dont put out much heat though.

cool im going out today to buy the parts to do mine. Did you tap into the other tails for power or what. Someone told me not to do that cause you could drain power from them and cause them to dim?

I just tapped in from the licence plate bulbs/wires. I have no dimming of anything.

Just make sure to vaccum the shavings out after you drill

I tapped off the tail harness and noticed no dimming, the 4 big bulbs + 2 194's for the center are gonna draw what they need as long as the fuse size allows it, and they havent blown the fuse yet so I dont think there will be a prob.

Must you put in the middle panel lights? I was thinking on getting the same 1G CF Altezza Tails for my '90 Eclipse but I wanted to keep the Mitsubishi in the middle :(

Talonman:

Where did you get those lights at? They look very Skylinish and if they come with flat black in the back then I'd love to buy a pair later down the road.

Man, my MX-3 wasn't good for much but it had the 3rd or so best tail lights ever...what good is making people see them when they don't know what kind of car it is. OMG
