I have a 98 eclipse gs with a Megan Racing lowering springs with a 2" drop. I have 17x7 rims right now and want to get XXR 962. I want to get 17x7 in the front which I know will fit but I want to get 17x9 in the back for a deep lip. They have a 35 offset will they fit without any problems? The new rims would be going on my old tires which are 225/45 Falken. Will they work?

Probably.

The question is why do you want to pretend your car is RWD.

I don't want to pretend I just like the way that looks but trust me I would love either a RWD or AWD!

in doing that you know your going to create under steer and your traction is not going to be improved on the rear either just because you go big it does not always mean better traction, you want wider tires on the front on a FWD car then you will see the traction

Try this out. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/handling-tech/231004-tire-size-recommendation-request.html

A 225/xx tire is going to be very stretched on a 9" rim. I'm running a 245/40/18 on a 8.75" wide rim and its sidewall isn't straight up and down. It's also a +35 offset and fits but only after a roll.

I didn't even think about that..... Would I be better off trying to put 17x9 all around because I love the lip the XXR 962 has with that width? The reason I didn't try the 17x9 in the front in the first place is because right now my 17x7 are close to rubbing right now. Probably a half inch until it hits.

If you say your current setup is tight then this new setup will be bad for you, you got to think is it worth it for a lip and what benefits am i going to gain, i know your only doing it for looks but your more then likely to run into issues and need your fenders rolled.

Its your call if you do it correctly then i might work, i just thought i would let you know that the handling will be no better, on the other hand if you really dont plan to race then get 17x8 on the front that will be better the 17x7 atleast!!

Alright appreciate the help, I don't really race right now it's mostly for appearance but once I get everything done on the outside I'm moving under the hood and probably gonna build the engine. I do have a camber kit on the back rims though forgot to mention that.
