I search and couldn't get my answer anywhere man! I had the regular stock tape player and "upgraded" to the infinity cd/tape/radio double din head unit. First I had to get the freaking code. And just basically fliped the wire harnes to the infinity unit. I was able to unlock the stereo everything seems to work fine but there was no sound! Does the harnes differ to the infinity harnes? I think that the connections are different inside the harnes. any input please.

"fliped the wire harnes to the infinity unit."

Well, I'm not sure what that means, but which Infinity is it? Does it have the 7-band equalizer on the lower right? Does it have an "aux" or "cd" input on the lower right? Are you running the factory amp under the passenger seat?

Check here for the wiring color code:

ok what i did is basically pulled out the cassette player and hooked up the harneses to the infinity stereo. they all fit perfectly. thats all. cd seems to work, radio seems to have frequency cause the stereo signal goes in and out located on the lcd screen. I have no amp, hope I don't need it to get it to work. it looks like this.

shit mine don't work either, I have the tape deck with the equalizer. It has power but no sound comes from the speakers. My dad checked the speakers and deck but he said everything was getting power so I dunno what the hell is wrong with it. It's annoying though because my damn interior tends to rattle and shit .

Thanks for the pic- yes, you need the amp. Not really a big deal, it slides right in under the passenger seat and plugs into the speakers, but you do need the DIN cable to run from the console to the amp- being an Eclipse, it _might_ be in the car: the CD changer cable should be there as well, running from the rear hatch to the head. The amps go for a song, check the Classifieds here, or let me know if you can't find one.

how does the amp cable look like? I know I have the cd changer cable its the one with a lot of needle-like things on the harnes. But if the amp connects to the stereo, how the hell does the speakers are to be wired from the amp. I assume you connect the amp and the stereo retrieves the sound back to the stereo and to the speakers.....right. Not really an issue but does it have to be a factory amp cause I have an aftermarket one.

The amp cable is similar to the CD changer cable, but with fewer connections, I think 9- it goes in the _other_ DIN socket on the back of the radio.
No, they do something with the wiring of the speakers that I don't get, if you look at the factory diagram, the door and rear speakers run from the head unit _and_ from the amp, and the front tweeters in the dash run only from the amp. I've found very little documentation about the Infinity sound setups, the factory shop manual is about worthless for them.

It's the one I'm running, with the amp and CD changer. The diagram doesn't help. There's the rectangular white plug in the console, the CD data DIN cable, the amp DIN cable, and then on the amp, there's another rectangular white plug and the DIN cable. The plug for your amp will be in the slit in the carpet just behind the "bump" in the floor under the front edge of the passenger seat.

Anybody knows the Specs on the stock inifity Amp? Also is there an aftermarket Amp that uses the same connectors if going with a more powerful Amp?

Oh, heavens no. That'd be the _easy_ way. Why build something to someone else's standard, when you can make up one of your own? Same deal with the CD changer, despite being a Pioneer, Mits had to swap a couple of wires around in their DIN cable so that the one with their name on it won't work with everyone else's.
The specs on the stock are fairly lame, I think on the order of 80 watts- but it's in a damned car, you can't hear anything worthwhile anyhow, over those stupid sirens behind you.

Im having the same problem, but i dont have the cd changer. Im switching out the old stock deck and replacing it with this exact same deck. How much plugs should be in the amp? I have the white rectangular piece and the black wire. Am i missing another wire? On the deck i also have the white rectangular piece and the antenna.

For my 97' with premium Infiinty sound, same deck as pictured. I don't have the CD changer but works fine without.

AMP under seat - One white rectangular & big circular black plug
Stereo in dash - looking at the back, you need all connections on the LEFT & white rectangular. That is bigger plug-> small plug-> largest black plug-> white rectangular.

The big 12 pin plug on the right is for the CD changer, but mine works fine without it

I only have two plugs going in the back of my stereo. The white rectangular plug and the antenna (small). i seem to be missing the amp plug. Can i just buy a new wire to connect the stereo to the amp?

Honestly I don't know about the stereo you posses. And it looks exactly like the one pictured in post #3? With what you explained, what would buying a cable do if your stereo has no where to plug it into?

Can you post pics of the back of unit along with the part number? Starts with MB.....

oh sorry, its the exact same head unit as the one above.

Im guessing the black wire from the amp is for the stereo but i cant find it. I dont want to tear up my carpet to find the wire so i was just wondering if i can just buy a new wire to connect from the stereo to the amp. thanks for you help man, really appreciate it. hopefully this helps.

More than likely the other end of that cable is just jammed in the back of the dash or possibly under the carpet a bit. Once ya get the passenger dash side panel off (1plastic cover then 2 screws) you can see things much easier. *You might also need to find both the two smaller plugs that go into the stereo.*

The two antenna leads are for the "Diversity Antenna". The fat one is the normal wire antenna on the corner of the car, the second is the extra, non-defroster wires in the hatch glass.
They gotta be back there somewhere. My car was the same way since the original owner put in aftermatket stuff, but all the original cables were still there.

Before you get the stereo in, you need to write down the serial number and call a number to get the security code that is programmed into the stereo. This link is very thorough

Will the stereo play with out the security wire? Do they sell the amp to stereo wire at audio stores? Again bro thanks for your input. Very helpful.

I edited my post mentioning that wire, my bad it's not for security

I never looked for one before but it's called a DIN cable. More specifically 6 pins total including the pin in the center. It needs to be male to male and at least 4 feet long I'd guesstimate

If you go that route you'd end up taking out the passenger seat and the dash passenger kick panel anyway to fit your new cable so if you can't buy one, the original cable is probably still there like I mentioned

I haven't had this problem yet but make sure all the connections in the back are in...On the back, the two plugs are both for reception. One uses the rear defroster as an antenna and the other uses the actual power antenna
