My driver's seat has been giving me a lot of back pain (it's dead), so this weekend I replaced it with a Corbeau Carrera.

Corbeau advertise this as the "larger" of their sports seats.

I'm about 6', 220 and perhaps 38" around the waist, and I don't fit in the damn thing.

The kidney bolsters hit my hipbones and the back is so short that my head hits the top frame rail in the back rather than the padding when I lean back. The belt cutouts are also a bit on the low side for my 4-point Schroth.

It pisses me off that I bought a pair of these things, plus brackets, then had to sweat blood to get them installed (the brackets didn't fit, they position the seat off-centre and the hipline is at least an inch higher, probably more), and after all that, they're too damn small.

So what should I get? I can't live with the old stock seat, and I'm not going to last long with these either. Cost isn't so much of an issue; my back's been giving me hell so this is basically a medical question at this point. I just need a seat that will be supportive and comfortable for several hours a day.

I've personally found the stock seats to be rather confortable, and I'm not small guy myself - 6'2", 250lbs - even on 5+ hr drives...

Did you get a chance to use the stock seat before it died, or was your seat bad when you got the car?

Note to self: sit in seats before installation. Thanks, DrZiplock. ;)

(Just wanted to throw in my desire to hear an answer to this too; I'm a "full-figured tuner", and while the stock leather seat fits me just fine, I'm eventually going to want to swap them out for something with a little more support around the sides.)

I heard Sparco's EVO II is supposed to accomidate "larger" drivers.

Thankfully, I'm nice and skinny, although I'm too tall for Bride seats.

The stock seat was a little narrow in the base, but would probably have been OK if it didn't have 150,000 ass-miles on it.

As for test-sitting - indeed. Note that I sat in these fresh out of the box, and that was a very different experience compared to how they feel in the car. Try to find some actually *installed* if you want to be certain.

Right now, the only alternative looks to be the Sparco Milano. $900 for a seat, yowch.

Zip,
see about exchanging your Corbeaus... the Targa RS (i think its called the TRS now) is available in a wide version. that may be a good option for you.

i am 5'11", 195 lbs and the Carrera was too tight for any real length of driving so i know where you're coming from.

oh, and guys, notice he has a 1G, TOTALLY diferent seats than you guys talking about your comfortable 2G seats.

i'd like to know the feasibility of mounting some 2G seats in a 1G...

Exchange is unlikely; it's been a long-ass time from when I bought these to when I was able to get them installed (long story).

2G seats don't fit, sorry folks.

Interesting point about the TRS; if I wasn't cheesed with the quality of the Carreras I'd seriously consider them.

Corbeau makes most of their seats (like the forza) in a wider version.

Corbeau Carrera are for wide people? LMFAO, I have two on them in the car and I'm about 5' 11" and 140 lbs and they fit me perfectly. If I gain 15 pounds they are going to be uncomfortable I can tell. Stay away from Corbeau if this is the case, just a heads up if you guys are still in question.:thumb:
