I just wanted to know if they make flat carbon fiber hood for the 2G ECLIPSE. Also with no air vent, just flat like an OEM civic hood. Please post a reply with da link. Thanks in advance. RJ

i dont think you can get a flat hood because that hump is there for clearance for the timing belt.

sooo.... you want a completely custom "flat" CF hood... I am SURE someone COULD do it for you... but they will ask you why... and I thin I will to... WHY?

I think the bump is for the Turbo models engine or something. I think a flat hood looks nicer anyways, like the 00's.

the bump is only functional on the 1st gen cars because of the timing belt. on the 2nd gen, its for the dsm trademark. i personally wouldnt get rid of it because its the trademark man! and it looks tight.

Where are these answers coming from? The hump is there to clear the timing belt cover on turbo models. You run an invader hood, you have to remove the cover, or I have heard you can modify the bottom of the hood to make it fit. If you want a "flat hood" ... you would have to remove the timing belt cover. This IMHO is crazy and increase the chances or the unthinkable happening like somthing flying up into the cam gears and causing the belt to break or jump teeth.

There are plenty of OEM style hoods out there that will cost ALOT cheaper than a custom "flat" hood. I personally have a VIS hood. I consider them the best for fit, quality, and looks.

I have the invader. My car's NT tho. I hope to have pics when I get the car back. The latches on VIS hoods hold up really strong from what I've seen. Made me decide to not even run pins. These hoods are very nicely constructed. Go with a VIS and you'll be happy. Keep the hump or get an invader, it'll still look nice.

I just say be careful runing without hood pins.Alot of ppl have had their hoods blown wideopen and hitting the roof/window and causing it to dent/crack real bad.I would never ever run a CF hood without the ins cause they are such a cheap insurance of not gettin the car all f***d up.

Eventhought he hood seem to be in good quality..dont take chance..maybe the fastening isnt as strong as you think and the worst can happen...so..be safe..run pins..just a suggestion.

I got the Xtreme GT hood from VIS and it fits real nice. It also will fit the turbo model without removing the t-belt cover.

Here's a pic...

I have heard that said but if you look at my hood where could you put the hood pins that it wouldn't look retarded? The VIS latch does seem to be very strong...I'd say the latch area is about 1/4 thick.
Is there any way it could be secured besides hood pins?

well I havent had it happen to me but I read alotof posts about ppl it happend to.Just wanted to share a warning thats all:)

On your particular car I would put the pins retty far out at the corners.. its possible and it wouldnt look bad at all.I just gotta say..that hood is wicked!!(in a good way!) Geez it looks cruel!!I might have to change mine..*hehehe*
