ok well here's my idea. i want to take my headlights apart to take the lil orange piece out to make clear corners. now here's my idea. i want to pain the chrome part in the stock headlight when i take the light apart with nightshade light tint to make it black now would the lights still work properly??? i have piaa 85watt bulbs in it right now and they are very very bright. i want to paint the inner housing black and then put the lights back together. i have eyelids from apc that will go on too once i get them painted to match the car. what do you guys think and would it work????

painting the housing and taking out the orange reflector is something many of people have done like farmdogg said. painting the housing will be fine, but the chrome around the lights, i wouldn't touch it. the lights use the chrome to reflect the light off the chrome into a beam of light. without the chrome, the beam will not be as dominate in the night.

how do they do it in black projector housings??? cuz i don't see the chrome backing in them?

I would just spend around 150 and get a pair off ebay. This way if you want to go back you just put your stock ones back in and resell the black projectors.

the black projectors have a lens, not reflectors for the light beam. only the high beam will have the chrome reflecting. only the dual projectors will have no chrome reflectors.

i did a search before and the general concensus was that projector lights are worse than stock at night anyone have projectors that can definitely verify that?

3 things to do to solve that problem:

1. aim your low beams up some and your high beams down some
2. upgrade the bulbs. i am going with piaa extreme white 55watt=110watt H3's
3. upgrade lighting to H.I.D.'s. since H.I.D.'s are designed for a convex lens like what is in the projectors, they work really well together.

hope this helps.

does anyone have pices of the thing painted black, like on a talon? also how do you get the lenes off? i heard about heating them up in the oven? but i think i need a little more detail befor i stick 'spensive head lights in the cake factory

3 minutes @ 300 degrees or you can use a heat gun or a hair dryer(takes forever). just look up at my pic i posted earlier. all the headlights have a housing you can paint. just the 95-96 eclipse's and all the talons will look different than the 97-99 eclipse's. hope that helps some.
