96 rs with no tach

i have done massive amounts of searching and got nothing. heres the deal the 96 rs comes with no tach there is a spot for one but nothing is there no numbers no needle. I dont want to put an after market tach in. if i get a cluster from ebay or what not how would i go about getting the tach to work would i need wiring or something. Has anyone done this b4? and info is greatly appreciated

Have you looked into buying the whole guage cluster of a 97 or 98 rs. They may be compatible. So it may be worth a trip to the local junkyard. What about the guage cluster of a 96 GS? Did that have a Tach.

There realy isn't any wireing. If you pull the guage cluster out it is just conected to a plug in the back. I think th quage cluster from a different model like the GS should work. But I'm not 100% sure on this.

I have seen this work with different cars. I just don't know anybody who has tried it with an eclipse.

i don't see why your car doesnt have a tach, i have a 96 rs and so does my friend and we both have tachs, one of my friends switched a cluster from a 98 to a 95 so it should be compatibe and should work fine.

There were REALLY ECONOBOX packages of the 2G RS Eclipse that were absolute base models. We're talking not even those SCHWeeT 14" mags, but HUBCAPS. No tach, no floor mats, no center console insert, just totally basic.

can you show me a pic f the dash without the tach? cuz its sounds like total bs, cuz how could you shitft w/o the tach?

I used to have a geo metro with a 5 speed an no tach. I know some other guy who has a civic with a 5 speed and no tach. Lots of cars have manual trannies and no tach.

this isn't bullshit. i've actually seen one in person. i told him the same thing. try to find a junked tach and see if it would work. it's funny, big ol speedometer and then a big black circle with no needle or anything there. shit is fugly!!!

yep ive seen them too. they arent even rs. its just base model. steel hubcaps, no radio, no tach, and not even a rear defroster

thats for the info guys, but im still wondering if it will def. work because im afaid ill buy one and there will be nothing for the tach to read because there was never anything there in the first place. The other ques was can i add a rear wiper and whats the difference with some center concoles, mine has no arm rest ive seen some that do

you could add a rear wiper but it would probably be a pain to get the arm in the exact spot

the rs has no lid on the console and everything above the rs has one. i got mine off ebay a while back.

anyways, to solve the problem go buy a gst/tsi.
