What are you doing for fog lights?

What are you guys doing for fog lights? When I bought my car, they weren't stock. Then I hit black ice and broke both, so I replaced them with one of those $20 sets from Wal*Mart. The light output on them isn't great. And they don't look the best either. They don't match the look of the car.

I haven't seen too many pictures of stock 2gb Talon fogs. And I know they aren't cheap to get new. I heard they're something like $200 each from the dealership.

So what are you guys using?

EDIT: Wow. Didn't realize the bumper/hood line was so crooked. I'll have to fix that.

eewww :barf:

Those look *great* LOL

I don't have any on my car since I put my FMIC on.

I've been thinking about some of the large "off road" Hellas from VatoZone.

I'll need a photoshop guru, but I can't imagine them being aesthetic-only like the low-output mess you can find at Walmart, Autozone, etc.

Ditch the foglights, they're not terribly useful, at least IMO, and you don't have the insets for fog lights in your front bumper, so it will look great without them.

I Plan on building this for my dsm while its in winter mode...

^ Okay, I got to admit, that's pretty damned cool looking. A buddy of mine has a light bar like that, but it's mounts are welded to the bumper support through the bumper. How do you plan on securing them to the car so they don't fall off? Bolts? sliding on with a lock pin?

Unfortunately, I live in Cali, so I won't need anything like that for a while. Though I am a fan of your tires. :p Traction FTW

Thanks! I drove through 2.5' of snow with those bad boys LOL. I plan on making a bracket that bolts to the stock fog plates, which will have a shaft just smaller than the light bar ends, so it will slide over and I'll use a locking pin, and some msd plugs for the wiring, So it can be removed quickly.

Well I'm a 1G, but I'm rocking these unobtrusive little halogen mini lamps from WalMart, and they are BRIGHT AS HELL.

(Ignore those nice blue parking lights...I stuck some old spare bulbs in them while testing new wiring).

:hellyeah: that lightbar rocks, add some white OZ rally style wheels and some mudflaps

That would be sick!

Those are bright, I have them in my reverse light housings!

If you do end up putting on fog lights, put them in a place so that way they appear to look stock from noobs but every DSMer will know they are not. Since a lot of DSM's have front mounts if they have modded them so they opt to put them in the outer holes in the bumper. That could be a good place for you so they don't look so out of place. Also with fog lights you can adjust them so they light up where you want it to be lit up.

Is it just me, or does it look like yours are pointing up?

Yeah. It rattled loose on that gravel road. I was having some fun. :hellyeah: 10 miles of gravel road with no one on it. It also broke one of the brackets that hold the IC on my car. That's why it's slightly crooked.

I do like having fog lights for in the snow though. It makes such a difference. There have been times where I wished I could shut off the headlights and just use the fog lights.

I'm definitely keeping fog lights on the car. I've just been trying to think of ideas.

I have the slightly larger version of those. I actually had those mini ones on my car before and they looked really out of place. These are the same brand as those mini ones. Maybe the bulbs are just wearing out, but the light output from these isn't spectacular.

I've even thought about installing a cheap HID kit into a decent fog light housing. The problem is finding a housing that matches the look of the car.

These are what was on the car when I bought it. :barf:

EDIT:

I know there are some people on here who have never seen the stock fog lights for a 2gb Talon. Found some decent images.

Even they aren't great.

Have you tried placing them in the smaller outer openings. I have a 95' GSX and that was where I was going to put mine because the front mount takes up so much room. My fog lights are the Piaa's. With a true yellow fog light and then a bright white driving light. Ended up never putting them on.

I have a transmission cooler where the SMIC used to be. I plan to eventually put an oil cooler on the other side. I don't know if I like the though of sticking some fog lights in there too. I don't think it would look right on the bumper either.

I think I might go the the pic-a-part yard on Sunday. Maybe I'll find something there that I like.
