that is a lot of info on there. i would like to get an HID retrofit set for my car, but it would be JUST ABOUT impossible, since they are pop-ups...

mchollic or however the hell you spell the name makes square HID lights for pop-ups and such. i'm sure someone knows the company i'm talking about and will be able to link you. LOL

8000k and 9000k ones also fatigue your eyes and make it more difficult to drive and the beam pattern isn't as precise as the 4100k. the blue color in the 8000+k sets diffuse and cause color bleed. just a little something extra there :thumb:

If you are looking into Real HID/Xenon lights more than likely you will want the blueish or purpleish color to them because even then they still put more light on the road than conventional Halogens, plus you get the cool color temperature change. I still think blue or purple tint to real HID's looks cool as hell.

I would never buy a set just 4100 Kelvans that is pure white. That is just my opinion on the subject. The Blue and Purple ones are just too cool and futuristic to pass up. I love em!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Current draw on HID's is 5 amps which is 50% less than your standard UGLY YELLOW halogen bulbs. Current draw is lower so the bulb runs at a much cooler temperature than your halogen bulb. HID won't melt your headlight housings.

Don't buy a conversion kit with STARTERS. Those are older generation kits. The Best & Newest technology conversion kits don't have Starters. (Generation 2).

It is up to you whether or not to get HID's, but if you live in areas with out streetlights or drive on long stretches of road that is really dark, tunnels etc. Or if you live somewhere where there are a lot of deer crossings warnings......I would suggest strongly if you can afford it to get HID's. If you want 4100 Kelvans if will do just fine, but if you want a Purpleish tint go with 7000Kelvans. IF you want a Blueish tint go with 8000Kelvans.

If you have a lot of style and have to get a lot of looks as part of enjoying your ride definitely get 7000k or 8000K. They will still work extremely well and superior to your normal 55watt halogens.

If you are really logical and not really into a lot of style and only want pure function get 4100 kelvans or at the most 6000 kelvans. Definitely get them if you live somewhere where there are deer or no street lights. They could save your life. :dsm:

So real 7000K or 8000K does not exist.....Okay. So the glare with blueish like 8000K kits is not good to other drivers and the blue glow will fatigue your eyes so they say. This is all probably true, but people/ricers or whatever will still crave the style more in my opinion. I know two guys who have Ebay kits that look kind of good in my opinion. I never got eye fatigue looking at the road on a 1 and a1/2 hour trip, but hey that's me.
You can get glared also by real OEM HID's as well even though they are more correctly beamed in my opinion. Some drivers just hate HID's white OEM style too.

I would still get a kit off of ebay for $350-$400 especially if you want the style. I also disagree with the arguement that 8000K:rolleyes: blue or purple put less light on the road than normal 55 watt halogen IMHO.

I am telling you if you want the look I would still get the blue or purple ones on ebay, but if you don't care about your lights really standing out and you don't want people to be "blinded by the light" than just get a pair of CATZ HID 5100 Aqua White.

CATZ USA (800)-433-8872 www.fet-usa.com
Holshot Racing (714)-772-8832

Kits cost $588-$788
Should only take about 2 to 3 hours to install.

Be careful installing HID DIY kits. don't turn on the igniter without the HID bulb being attached. The could discharge 20,000 volts at the connector, which would pretty much fry anything and everything in close proximity.

The HID Catz kit give you a much brighter white light and a spectrum of light that more closely approximating the range of natural light. They use ignited Xenon gas to generate light instead of a charged filiment like in conventional bulbs, cost less to manufacture and will last longer than halogens and probably longer than the life of your car.
