are they covered or are they actually carbon, if they can make it strong enough it would be a good idea for racing wheels because they dont have to put up with the constant abuse of public roads...and aside from that they can afford to throw them away every race.

Everyone knows how much I like carbon fiber and even I think those are ridiculous.

I wasn't looking at them for racing wheels I just came upon them in my search. I'd like to run the same setup as Ian, mclaren55, and get black 17" Rays Engineering Volk Racing TE37's and Nitto NT555R Drag Radials.

those would have you be "tear intestine expensive" i mean if they are solid carbon fiber... then i would expect like 800 bucks a piece... it would be cool and light though, could always paint them... what are those classic 6 spoke ones that are on jgtc cars? i think they are volks?

About 3yrs. or so ago I met a guy with a MKIV Supra TT that had some 17" or 18" Moda wheels that were CF like that so it's not a new concept. Just now it's getting overboard though. ...but in all honesty they really don't look all that bad.

Carbon Fiber rims have been used in bike racing for many years now. Shaving a 1/4 of a lb or making 1/2 a horsepower on a bike can mean the difference between wining and losing an event. They are stronger than hell but cost somewhere around 1K a piece for bikes. I wouldn't run a 3K lb car on those though. 300 lbs on 2 rims maybe.

In my opinion they look great. They don't look any worse than gunmetal rims to me. I think that would make a car with a Carbon Fiber hood and a bodykit that much more of a super showcar!! I would expect to see them more on showcars though. I am definately not anti-carbon fiber. I am glad they made them and if I could get them I sure would;)

These aren't the First set of Carbon Fiber rims made, I've seen others, but I'm pretty sure they got Discontinued because they weren't a great seller. I would run Carbon wheels, I think they are cool, but I don't have the $, and they wouldn't make great wheels for everyday use.

what does that even mean? the new yellow? i dont see how they can cost 250 a pice and be good carbon fiber....

I have to disagree totally. Carbon Fiber is the new yellow. Everyone is getting it, and they seem to think that if you have Carbon Fiber, you're fast. I think that this statement is totally true.

Good analogy cait sith. :thumb:

i kinda like them, but i wouldnt buy them for my car, cuz they wouldnt match anything...nothing on my car is carbon fiber...i want a hood though, cuz a 1Ga is rarely seen with a carbon fiber hood, they look sweet, they remind me of a 240sx silvia...

Okay, so riddle me this:

How much more performance and weight loss do CARBON FIBER dash overlays, carbon fiber faced gauges, carbon fiber look shift knobs, carbon fiber covered wheels, etc etc do?

I anxiously await your answer.

I was talking towards the wheels, I bet those wheels are lighter, and stronger then mosts peoples wheels in this forum. And I'm sure that HKS made that Altezza race car of theirs out of Carbon Fibre just cause it looked cool, along with McLaren making the F1 out of it also.

Do a little research on Carbon Fibre, just cause your little ricer buddy down the street has it on his ghey civic doesn't mean its just for show and not for go.

Also I was talking about real Carbon Fiber, not that #### that "looks" like carbon fiber.

Fake Carbon Fibre = The New Yellow( And big ### carbon wings cause big wings are ###, and they aren't replacing a part with a carbon fibre part, so they are just adding weight.)

Well DUUUH carbon fiber has positive aspects. Please point out to where I said it doesn't have any positive aspects?

That's my POINT as to WHY it is the NEW YELLOW. CARBON FIBER = SPEED BOOOOST! Carbon fiber door handle = SPEEEEEEEED BOOST! The vast majority of mass produced consumer-based (that means you, speedy) carbon fiber goods are of the "Hey, carbon fiber looks FAST" properties. PROVE ME WRONG.

Also, you know jack and sheet about wheels, no offense. Any "carbon fiber" wheel that comes from Wheelmax, and costs 250 a piece is called "Look, we put a layer of carbon fiber over a cheap cast rim, now let's charge out the arse for it!" But then again, you own Konigs.

Carbon fiber is too fragile for true road race/touring car purposes at this point in technology. Anyone who knows anything about wheels will tell you that forged Magnesium is the way to go if you want the lightest wheel out there.
