stick with the OEM hood.... the only vented hood that looks good is a predator hood and you can't fit them on a turbo car.

YOu can get a vented one to fit a turbo model but it requires removing the cam gear cover or "modifying" the underside of the hood.

I think you should reward yourself with the kick ass Carbon fiber hood. Don't pass up this chance to get one. They look so good with that 3-dimensional effect. They look so high tech. I never hardly see them where I live, but it is your car so do what you want. I would get it no doubt. :thumb:

I would definitely consider the cost. Is yer car as fast as you want it to be? What is the price difference between OEM and CF?

i'd say go with the carbon fiber....

does anyone have a picture of hte predator hood? it might be the one ive been looking for everywhere
i saw it in a thread on 2gnt.com forums, it was one badass hood.... like ram air hood scoops and stuff.... pretty spiffy if ya ask me, anyone know what im talking about?

If I got into a accident and needed to replace the hood, I would go 100% with the VIS OEM style CF hood, the best hood out there IMO

Don't buy a VIS hood you will regret it. Trust me. They crack very easy. Also did you notice that the VIS hood has absolutley no warentee. Spend the extra cash to buy a descent hood. Or you will end up spending more in the long run when you end up buying 2 hoods after the POS VIS hood cracks.

Man are you sure, You must have had a Knock off with a VIS emblem. Either that or a flawed one. VIS is one of the best out there. Even better than fiber images.

Once I get my new front bumper on in a couple of weeks I'll post some more pics. I love the hood :D, my only problem is I don't know if I want to make holes in it for hood pins or not. I know I should to be safe but I don't think it would look as good with hood pins. It hasn't been a real issue so far because I haven't driven it this winter except to get those pics taken.

I know this from experiance, and from many other people telling me the same thing. My hood came directly from VIS. Trust me they are crap. Why do you think a vis hood cost 375 compared to 600-700 like other companies.

Do you think a company that makesthese fake fiberglass front mounts is realy going to make a quality hood for 2-3 hundred less than everybody else.

JUST SAY NO TO VIS!

I don't know man but my hood looks pretty damn good and pretty strucurally sound.

My VIS is badass. My friend also has one. They are the best hoods. There are manufacturer defect products everywhere. You can't make 1,000,000 of something and have them all flawless. Human error.

as far as deciding on OEM vs. CF..get the CF becasue by the time you get the OEM and paint it, it will cost more...and Dsmnate, My friend has a 3G with CF and no hood pins and we've been past 150mph in that with no problems so i think you would be ok...but dont take my word for it cuz thats the only car we've tried that in...and yes it was stupid....

The opinion I was looking for was if I should go with the oem style c/f hood or a vented c/f hood! I am kinda leaning towards getting the oem since I think I am going to get the car painted silver! thanks for all the input guys and i appreciate the pix of the vented ones :)

Yeah I think I'm just going to take the chance. When I did drive it I was doing highway speeds and watching the hood and it didn't seem to be moving at all. Also the latch seems to be very sturdy. Maybe I can come up with some way to secure it from underneath.

The only way to properly secure a CF or FG hood is with hood pins! Yes the latch on the VIS hood is strong and NO I wouldn't trust it at 100+mph.

I like the OEM style CF hoods!

No it wouldn't be good for 100+ but do you think it would be fine for normal driving? I really think hood pins would ruin the look of my hood. I mean they look ok on the OEM style but I think they would look out of place on the style I have.
