seibon carbon fiber hood problems

okay so im gonna be getting the evo style carbon fiber hood for my 2g eclipse and i was wondering what the plastic piece under the mesh is called that keeps out the rain. Also, do i need it or will my block crack because of rain?

I'd just bypass the troubles alltogether and get an OEM style. They look much cleaner anyway.

I dont understand why you think your block would crack because of rain water? Are you thinking your intake is going to suck it up or what? I have 2 scoops that are open in my extreme gt hood. But VIS made them so that the water falls in between the turbo manifold and radiator perfectly. I never get a screeching belt or anything. And its nowhere near my intake.

well i didnt think it was good to get the engine soaked like when it rains. but where would i get the vents if i wanted? like is the picture on my first post what i would need?

I work for a shop that's sold hundreds of vented hoods and we've never once heard of any engine damage due to a vented hood. You drive through puddles don't you? Same thing. You also might want to shop around a bit more. You can find that hood about $150 cheaper with shipping on ebay or google...
