I primed my bumper for the (97-99) conversion and was wondering how many coats of clear coat to put on and give it that shiny/glossy finish?

I dont know where to post this thread so sorry mods.

help?

Paint it with good paint, a few coats, and do it right, and you don't need clear. It'll be just as glossy, and save some money...... My dad painted for over 10 years and was the best around, and never used clear coat. My $.02

Well, after "google"ing atlittle, I realized that the clear coat is more of a protector of the paint than anything. So I'd say once you paint it flat, if it's not glossy to your liking then you can always go over it in clear. However, as my 98' Eclipse can tell you as well as others on here. Clear coat, even when done by the factory, sucks when it starts peeling :( At least with multiple coats of paint it can be waxed mulitple times if it fades. (However don't wax until 30-90 days after fresh paint.
