DIY Paint Help

Ok so my car has basically a strip of cancer forming behind the driver side door on the outside edge(rear fender). I plan on doing the body work and everything before winter strikes so it doesnt spread anymore. For the repaint, Id probably go with a spray can until i feel like getting an all over touch up. I highly doubt the color would be unnoticeable so Im thinking about doing a strip decal going up behind the door in maybe black with red (car color) lettering reading what ever. Not sure yet but if anybody has any idea what Im talking about and has ideas or opinions let me know. Pics would be pretty cool.

What color is your car? Spraypaint will stick out like a sore thumb.

you should do a search for rustolium paint jobs, there have been some really good outcomes with roll on jobs as long as you can take the time to wet sand. i did my whole car with rustolium cans and wetsanded in between coats. there are minor imperfections and it has come out realy well. if i can get some pics i will post them up. i am in iraq right now so it might take a little while. butlike i said attention to detail and you can't tell the difference. my friends looked at it when i finished the drivers side and they couldnt believe how good it looked. they even said it looked like a spray gun job except for the imperfections that i had to point out.

if you just take your time and make sure to sand everything ANY rattle can job can look decent. My bumpers on my car are rattle canned and nobody has EVER noticed that they are. ANYTHING I spray, I always do 2 very light coats that barely cover the piece, then I do 2 WET coats to give it a nice gloss. Sand that last layer of gloss with 2000grit and then clear coat the exact same way. Everything I paint comes out really nicely

that sounds exactly like what i do except the last coat of color after it flashes is when i shoot my clear i usually shoot 3 coats pf clear with 15 min between coats for flashing
