To me RICE IS: A Person with a domestic or Japanese/Asian/Korean car that has a big spoiler, stickers of performance products that are supposed to be under the hood, a loud exhaust and they PRETEND TO BE FAST!

A Ricer is someone who says their JDM Cavalier GTR has $10,000 in mods and quotes sayings from The Fast & the Furious like "my Cavailer has Direct port Nitrous injection and it's a 10 second car!". They lie and say that they beat Nissan Skylines and Ferrari's, They eat Corvette C5's and Turbo Supras, Turbo Porsche 911's and Twin Turbo 300ZX's.
They brag about impossible races....and try to race everycar on the street.

I DON'T THINK A RICER IS:
A person with a Bodykit or Altezza taillights
A person with an import
A person who has graphics

To me as LONG AS YOU ARE ENJOYING YOUR CAR then that is what it is all about. Some Ricers don't try to race everybody and talk sh!T, but They have a big Bumblebee muffler, a Cheap knock off APR aluminum wingand stickers/decals of parts not under their hood. I know some people like this and they are nice/good people, but don't have enough money to do a car SUPER CLEAN and they WISH they had what they see in IMPORT TUNER, SPORT COMPACT CAR, HONDA TUNING, PERFORMANCE AUTO & SOUND, SUPER STREET, LOWRIDEREURO ETC,
Some are not assh$^@s who brag and act stupid, but just " wanna be cool import enthusiasts" that can only afford the cheap stuff anybody can get like decals, wings, exhaust, graphics etc. They also are not mechanically talented or inclined so they can't build a car up like some at home super mechanics. Ricers want so bad to have a high money car like the ones on www.importspeed-south.com and they can't and won't ever be able to afford it so they CAN'T RESIST the temptation to get the "ricer mods". So all ;) ricers are not idiots with bad attitudes, however the way their cars look is still labeled as Rice and should be.

To have a clean car with a body kit or not, especially fixed up you have to be able to do your own engine/tuning, bodywork or have a good hook-up with friends/mechanics or either a lot of damn money or sponsership. The AVERAGE PERSON (not hard core tuner) especially the non-sponsored average joe will not be riding around in a daily driver like the cars in the Fast & the Furious or any magazine like IMPORT TUNER or SUPER STREET! The average person that never knew about the import scene until the Fast and Furious and does not weekend race and build engines that uses their car as a daily driver JUST WANTS TO GET THE LOOKS OF THE SHOWCAR TYPE OF CARS on the scene, especially like the ones in Miami Florida, California etc. Since this is close to impossible with most peoples salaries and incomes.....

I suspect you will see a LOT MORE RICE as time goes on because average people not mechanically inclined who don't hard core race a lot some just don't have good style and SOME THAT DO HAVE GOOD STYLE are both in the same boat. Neither one can afford to do it up right, but all still want the looks that go with HOT IMPORT TUNER CARS.

I think there is a lot of rice calling around here on DSM Tuners also because we all have a different perspective of what is stylish. Some guys don't care about their car drawing a crowd with a bodykit and just want it to be faster non-turbo or not. I think most guys that I know want their car to look cool, but it is not fast and they can live with that, but some guys say their a ricer. Some guys only like a car stock looking and don't even like changing the rims. The thing here at DSM Tuners is we can't be a strong united community of enthusiasts if we down each others personal goals for our cars all the time.

If you think a guy has a bunch of ricer mods what purpose is it to down his style. To make yourself feel superior. The thing is you are superior neither is he. The industry in my opinon favors people who could be called ricers. They make more$$$$$ money off of ricer mods than performance mods. Also if you don't want to be a racer and are not mechanically inclined why would you worry about fixing up your car to be fast? That isn't your goal. You can't afford the labor from a shop or do it yourself, but you still want the look. You can call me a Ricer all you want, but if you are not fixing up your car to be faster you have to be a ricer because the only thing left after speed is looks and aesthetics.

I don't think being a ricer is negative if that is they way you like your car. I think the big problem is people are using the term rice or ricer to connotate a negative reaction. Why would someone want to be associated on purpose with something negative. I think people should try to come up with a classification or better way to identify a TRUE RICER and a person who customizes a car with rice like looks. There should be another classification is all that I am saying. ( That is why I wrote all of this....to get you thinking!)

If you don't brag and race people with phony stickers and a big wing you are not a hard core ricer, but your car may not be fast and ricey cars are cars that are not fast, but you are not a bad person. To me it is your attitude. Other people just say it is because you like Carbon Fiber or have a bodykit and they don't like that. To me that is a cop out of really trying to get to the bottom arugue. You just don't like that person's style or a particular style.

A BETTER DEFINITION OF RICE IS a car that is slow fixed up or not fixed up. I can agree to that. If you are not fast than you are not fast. But if you like to have Altezza's but you are fast than you are still a Ricer?
The Ricer debate will never end because there is not one universal definition we all can agree to.

This is the only part I quoted becasue when it comes down to it this is the only sentence you even needed to put.

Your opinion is noted but I'm going to lock this thread becasue I will not let it start another argument.
