1G removal of stock stereo

i have just purchased a 1990 turbo rs and want to uprgrade the stock double din cassette player with a single din CD player, only i cannot figure out how to take the stock stero out. Can anybody help me out or give a clue where to start unscrewing.

It's very simple. Just pop off the black trim piece that surrounds the head unit...then you should see 4 phillips screws, 2 on each side. Take out those screws and pull the head unit out. Done.

thanks for the input, but i cannot figure out how to take the black trim off to access the four bolts. i am use to honda's. i guess i am moving up in the world.

just pull it off. it will pop off pretty easily. mine did, and i have the same kinda car as you...

Get a plastic putty knife to use for a prybar on interior trim- they're cheap and will usually break before the trim will if you klutz-up. The radio bezel has 2 or 3 spring clips holding it in, put a piece of rag on the face of the radio to not scratch it, slip the putty knife between the radio and the bezel, and the bezel should pop out with a bit of prying. You can shape the putty knife to fit areas by heating it over a flame, and of course cut it if you need something more narrow.
