I trying to find out what tire size would fit on my car if I lower my car about 1.75in and my rims are 17X7 with a 40mm offset. Since I'm still a new member I have to do it this way. I have checked out the charts and tried to figure this out for myself but couldn't make heads or tails of it. I'm getting those rims and if i need to get diffrent susspension please let me know. Thanks

225/45/17's my friend! that would be almost perfect with the speedo too. (atleast on a 1g awd)

For AWD, this would be a good size to go for: 235/45/17. This is the closest tire size comparable to the OEM tire circumference.

If 2G AWD Talons came with 16" rims from the factory compared to their 2G GSX counterparts, then:
205/55/16 = 78.1 (stock for 1g & 2g FWD)
225/45/17 = 78.5 (see how close it is to the OEM 16" circumference)

But if 2G AWD Talons came with 17" rims like the 2G GSX's, then:
215/50/17 = 80 (stock on 2g GSX)
235/45/17 = 79.6 (see how close it is to the OEM 17" circumference)

Manual calculation shows: 215/45/17 = 77.3. Now cross check this against the measurements above.

Correction, not closest to original circumference, but keeps the speedo closer. The +1 tire sizing is what all shops would use. 2G AWD apparently comes with 17s stock, so I'm really out of my element here.

I would say the 225/45/17 would be just fine due to the fact that you would have a little room for error just in case you don't bottom out the car and also keeping your tires from rubbing the fender well.

I will have 225/45 on my 17" with a 2" drop. You will be fine.

I love my 245's. They love to grip for me in hard cornering. Now I just need to work on everything else that likes to break.

the 1g has a better wheel base against the 2g. reason being that the 1g came out with the awd setup. therefore it came with a bigger set of tires vs. the 2g.
